This is brilliant news for the industry in general. As it's been said many times before, competition drives creativity.
That said, you'd still never catch me saying "well done Microsoft" because it would have implemented these awful polices had it not been for the backlash and a sudden relapse of common sense. If anything, this turnaround shows just how out of touch the company's management is.
As someone who has never touched an Xbox, it's kinda funny to see Microsoft backtrack so quickly... But at the same time, I think it's probably the smartest thing they could do given the circumstances. It might've been different if the Xbox One had been cheaper to purchase than the PS4, but the previous situation was suicide for them. It's great for the industry that the community response was so vocal that they couldn't ignore them.
I wish that was true but there's nothing stopping MS or frankly any of the 3 console makers from putting this stuff in later. I hope that doesn't happen but the fact people had to rage about it for these idiots to get the point means they don't get benefit of the doubt.
While this is great news for the industry, I will be sticking with my decision on a PS4 at least for awhile. My biggest thing now with the Xbox One vs the PS4 is the $100 price difference for the Kinect. I dont like the Kinect and honestly I dont see myself using it. I am sure alot of people like the idea but I am not willing to pay an extra $100 just for some motion control.
Now if they offered a Kinect free bundle at a $400 price point, well that would be hard to turn down.

If this happens I'll be a multi-console owner again sooner rather than later. I still kind of expect it to happen but I'm not sure if it will be before launch of if MS will wait to see how it sells then if it's not performing as they want maybe drop the Kinect to lower the price.

I dont know, I see the point in MS bundling it cause Kinect games have brought in alot of money for MS. Still they could easily do a Kinectless bundle like Sony not including their move thing with the PS4. But than again who knows much the Kinect is needed to operate the system you might just need it cause it wont function correctly without it.

Yeah, those are good points. I think it comes out at $500 for the holidays then afterwards MS will start introducing subsidized plans.
@Gamer83: Yeah we will see. Honestly unless MS announces some exclusive game that I have to play I can wait for a bit for the Xbox One. Honestly all the games that I want to play are going to be available for both the PS4 and the Xbox One. Plus I am interested to see how Gaikai will work on the PS4 too. If they are going to let us stream PS, PS2 and PS3 games that will be great for me since I didn't own a PS3 so I am sure there are a bunch of game that I missed on that alone that will keep me busy till the Xbox One drops in price.

If Gaikai offers just Sony's PS3 games alone you'll have enough to keep you busy. I'm very interested to see how that service turns out.
I personally hope they offer every ps3 game you had ( You had installed on your ps3) to stream with gakia. For 5 euro's more a month + ( 5 euro already needed for ps plus) = 10$ a month to stream the whole playstation catologue of ps3,ps2 and ps1 ( thats my wish)
There'll be growing pains for sure when it starts out. I just hope nothing happens where using it could screw up your console.
it shouldn't with PC architecture, but I remember using Gaikai on my PC and was actually able to complete a Race in NFS the run as compared to onlive......Gaikai is far ahead in terms of latency and response over the internet compared to onlive. Everyone remember onlive........omg so much latency.
Yeah I have no worries of Gaikai ruining my system. After all it would be no different than say streaming a movie through Netflix on the PS4. Streaming technology has been around on the PC for awhile now and other than bad connections due to internet signal I have never heard of a streaming service ruining a PC.

They can go to hell as far as I am concerned. I am not a SONY-fanboy, but they should've been "wiped of the map" so to speak years ago. I don't want Microsoft being a part of this game anymore. They're absolute criminals. NEVER FORGET. And I certainly never forgive!
