Topic: Unit 13

I think I might be more excited for this game than when the original Socom released! I a sucker for third person shooters and from the looks of it, the game is turning out good! What are your thoughts on Unit 13?

Looks a bit too generic for me. Gameplay looks solid but doesn't delve from the norm. I'd wait for a game with more personality, personally.

I never really liked third person shooters, they never really feel immersive to me. It seems like a decent game though. Like the others said, I'd wait for a review though

I agree, the game looks awesome, but I'd wait for the prices to go down. Never been a shooter fan, so I can definitely wait.

The characters looked pretty detailed, looks to have a decent cover system, stealth attacks. I'm betting that it's better than Socom 4; I have yet to play it but a lot of people thought it had weird move controls.

Well, now that I have played the demo I can safely say this game is a lot better then I had assumed. It still is a bit generic, but the gameplay is tight and responsive, and most of all fun. It's definitely changed my mind on it though, and I will buy it now :3

I downloaded the demo on my PS3 since my Vita has yet to arrive. From what I understand, the demo was pulled in Europe PSN because it glitched a lot and froze. I'm not sure if thats any indication of the final game build, I really hope not. A majority of demos do state, "Not an indication of the final product" but I've seen several games release with glitches or issues from demos (on consoles, mostly).

One game that comes to mind: Darkvoid. Sure it wasnt the best game, and I knew it but once it continued to freeze and glitch, I stopped playing it. I wasn't about to restart the game (even reloading a prior chapter didnt help). Its too bad when games are released with so many problems but typically I can look over technical short comings.

On a technical standpoint for Unit 13, I couldn't imagine the game performing as poorly as Dark Void. I just hope the game is just enjoyable; thats what matters right?

Ohhhohoho no, Unit 13 is much better then Dark Void (for consoles anyways). It might have just been uploaded in Europe with a messed up file or something because the US version works perfectly. And it is a lot of fun, which surprised me as I said in my comment earlier. You have nothing to worry about! :3

I preordered it today... I tried the demo and was surprised because it actually was fun which I didn't expect

I pre-ordered it the other day before trying out the demo. I had played it on the Vita that belonged to the manager of GAME near me before the console was out and it was enjoyable. Reading about the daily missions and being able to compare scores with friends helped me decide to pre-order. Plus I have 20% off any Vita game voucher too ;P  Hopefully GAME will receive stock of it...

Yeah I loved the Demo for Unit 13. If you keep the demo in your Vita, any progress you have on your characters will transfer over to the full game. I really enjoyed the game and cannot wait to play it! However, I'm trying to be good and wait to buy any other games; I have yet to beat any of the games I already own.

Have not played the demo but after watching some videos of its gameplay it seems rather easy (or even too easy) to aim, hit and kill. This is not necessarily a bad thing unless it results in a game that you can finish easily in pretty few hours with little replay value.

@Mandoble I enjoyed the demo because the difficulty was set to "random" by default; I could fly through a level one play and die loads on the next playthrough. Kept me on my toes but shocked me when it jumped so drastically in difficulty!

On a related note, if you add me, I have been sharing the high level HVT via NEAR for anyone on my friend-list. It helps trophy hunters a bit as 5 star ratings wouldn't be needed (if I can get a 5 star on all anyways lol)
