I bought a 1000 model in really good condition on ebay, and it came with a case and was jailbroken so I can play any vita game I want, as well as super nintendo games. I've also purchased a few PSP games from the store so I can enjoy them before the store shuts down in August.

You'll still be able to buy PSP games on the Vita. It is only the PSP native storefront that is closing.

I honestly think a Vita 1000 is so much better than the later models. Easier to jailbreak, lovely OLED etc. I do love my Vita but it’s a lot better when you can put your own PS1 games on it and import games to translate.

@AdamantiumClaws I though Sony did a u-turn and announced that they would no longer be closing the vita and PS3 stores?

**** DLC!

@Voltan yeah I thought I wasn’t imagining it... not gonna lie, I’m tempted to try and get a vita. @nessisonett How would I be able to tell a 1000 from the other models?

@colonelkilgore It’s a different shape. 1000 on the left, 2000 on the right.

@colonelkilgore I am wondering when/why they changed their minds. I read about it only in March.

But to answer your question I paid $289. You will find the 2000 model for a lot cheaper.

But there is more to the differences than the shape. The 1000 is heavier and has higher build quslity. But the biggest difference is the screen. 1000 has OLED and 2000 has LCD. I compared them side by side in person and its quite a difference. Other than that, 2000 has longer battery life.

@AdamantiumClaws Also the 2000 model has 1GB of internal storage so you do not need memory card for saving.

I got the 2000 model because of the battery life and the internal storage as I only use physical media on my Vita.

Also the OLED screen has very bad burn-ins from videos I have seen. The LCD is more than fine for me

@AdamantiumClaws Jeez Louise. I paid £60 for my 1000 and that was only about a year and a half ago.

@Zuljaras Haven't had any issues with burn-ins. OLED is my preference.

@nessisonett Not sure how you managed that, but I'm content with my purchase due to the condition and tons of free games.

@AdamantiumClaws I really think you’ve been taken for a bit of a mug there. Mine is second hand and has a little bit of wear but nothing overboard. Maybe they charged extra for it already being jailbroken? I did it myself so probably saved a bit there.

@nessisonett not sure what that means, or what you're aiming at with your comments. Like I said, I'm content with my purchase.

@AdamantiumClaws It’s your money of course. I just didn’t realise the second hand market was charging that much all of a sudden.

@Tasuki Could also be because it didn't have a single scratch on it and came with a case. Most of the ones I saw for cheaper prices were coming from Asia and didn't show pics of the actual vita you'd be getting, or they were from the states and had scratches.
