We've noticed so far great game releases: Doom Eternal, Animal Crossing, Call of Duty Warzone, Metro Redux, and others. What games have been your favourite so far?

Gaming is going seriously downhill for me. Last year I survived mostly on dlc's of older games, and so far this year is even worse. Half-life decided to become a VR Game, Doom Eternal is a frustrating platformer, ( I HATE first person platforming in games) and they removed all the puzzles in Resident Evil 3, so I won't be buying that either. I can only patiently wait for Last Of Us 2 and Cyberpunk 2077....

What do you mean exactly? What kind of a timeframe are we talking about here?

Difficult.

I would go for Civilization 3. For multiple reasons I never played Civ 1 or 2 - only ever reading about them briefly in the likes of C+VG, Games master and Amiga Format. It was always on my radar but when Civ 2 released in particular I was forced into liking Happy Hardcore and drinking tramps drinks with girls in Adidas tracksuits. Anyway when that crazy phase was fortunately over, I threw that facade away and was an open geek. Trading Happy Hardcore for House and Cider for Expensive coffee.

Just after 9.11 the world had changed, my fascination grew as I learned more about the tectonics of global politics and populations, the reason we are and the rules differing cultures and the reasons for war. In a copy of a PC magazine I read one of the meatiest deepdives on games mechanics, an 8 page review on Civ 3. Immediately I needed this game. Im not too sure where I had the time to play Civ 3, I was knee deep in uni work and had an evening job monitoring call centre staff calls. In fact it was probably the reason I ended up with a 2:2.

So the game was amazing, the mechanics were mostly brand new to me. In a similar way to playing Elite, Theme Park, Your first game of Final Fantasy, Astrobot in VR. My expectations rose about what games can be. An absolute epic. A boardgame. A history lesson. Learning Ghandi loves building nuclear weapons.

It came with a massive manual, big box and additionals. Loads of different strategies and maps. Also a modification and map making section. It was the perfect time for a perfect game after an awful moment in World history.

@Jaz007 @themcnoisy Think they mean from this year.... bit of a strange question to ask when only 3 months of the year has passed.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

@JohnnyShoulder Oh. Well I hoped you like the comment. It was a great release and probably my the first grand strategy I played and enjoyed.

My favourite games this year are

RoundGaurd and Dreams.

If it's for games I've played this year, I'd say Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna, the Golden Country (Switch), and Tetris Effect (PSVR) sit atop the pile.

Right below them would be Daemon X Machina (Switch), Kingdom Hearts III (PS4), the Last Guardian (PS4), and New Super Lucky's Tale (Switch).

At the bottom of the pile would be LEGO Jurassic World (PS4), the Order 1886 (PS4), & Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD (Switch), but they were still okay. I haven't played anything I've actively disliked.

I'm currently playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Switch), which so far might join my top teir, and Tales of Berseria (PS4), which is looking to be second teir.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
