@Th3solution season 1 of The Leftovers was a bit of a trudge I agree… season 2 is one of my favourite seasons of tv ever though. It’s honestly worth ploughing on for season 2 alone. Season 3 on the other hand was a step down from 2 but still better than 1.

Anyone else caught The Residence on Netflix? My brother recommended it to me so I gave it a watch. I ended up watching the whole series in one day as I was enjoying it so much.
I'm half way through the latest season of Reacher as well and it has been good so far. I don't think any of the seasons have truly nailed the books so far, so hopefully this one can finish strong.

@Th3solution It's interesting, I've struggled with s1 as well, for many of the same reasons you mention. I really need one or more characters I feel I can root for and I've had trouble finding that in this show. I'm on episode 9 now and I would say things are getting pretty interesting. I'm also getting more sympathetic to Sheriff Garvey's beaten down dad who just struggles to put one foot in front of the other and wants to do right but ends up making poor, rash decisions.

Also, what @graymamba says, about the quality of the seasons, is something I've heard quite a bit from others and almost everyone I've talked with says S2 is one of the better seasons of television out there. That helped me get over "the hump" with the Leftovers, so to speak.

@BearsEatBeets Haven't gotten around to The Residence, but it is on my list and fairly high up. Cancelled Netflix a while back, so it will have to wait until I re-sub.
I'm also holding off on Reacher, as I have the books on my reading list, so I kind of want to get into those before starting the show.

@FuriousMachine I'm currently trying to watch everything I've put in my watchlist for Netflix as they just increased the price. I plan on dropping it once I'm done and waiting until the final season of Stranger Things to re-sub.
As a long time fan of the books I think that's a good idea to read those first. I've been tempted to go back and re-read the books they have adapted so far to see how much they changed as it's been many years since I read those early ones.

@BearsEatBeets Netflix is where I'm watching old Star Trek that I've never seen (currently on S6 of DS9 and S4 of Voyager), so even though I find Netflix to be one of the least interesting streamer at the moment, I will rotate it back in as soon as I can rotate Disney+ out (which will probably be after Andor S2 is done)

Looking forward to reading the Reacher novels, but before I get to them I have The Murderbot Diaries to get through

@FuriousMachine sounds like I'll be rotating out of Netflix and back into Disney + around the time you're doing the reverse 😄. I reckon I should be able to get away with just getting away one month of Disney to rewatch Andor S1, watch S2 and catch anything else that has been added since I dropped it last year. Is the recent Alien film on there yet?
I need to pick up a month of Apple tv at some point as well for Silo season 2. I read somewhere they are actually going ahead with a season 4 of Ted Lasso. If they are I hope it maintains the quality because it had a pretty neat conclusion at the end of season 3.

@BearsEatBeets Yup, Alien: Romulus is on there. I would recommend checking out Paradise if it's on there in your area, as well. It's originally a Hulu show, so I'm not sure if it's available on Disney+ everywhere or just areas where Hulu's not available (or, indeed, "other"). Anyway, it is one of the best new shows I've seen in a few years, it really kept me glued!

And, yup, they're working on s4 of Ted Lasso, but last I heard they're still negotiating returning actors before going into active production. Don't know if they have anything written yet, but rumour has it that Ted will be coaching a women's team.

Oh, and Silo s2 is definitely worthwhile, in my opinion. Also on Apple TV+, if you haven't seen Mythic Quest, I heartily recommend giving it a go. Very funny show with Rob McElhenney about a MMORPG software company with some highly unstable employees

@FuriousMachine Just watched a trailer for Paradise on Youtube and it looks like my kind of show. Pretty sure UK Disney + has Hulu stuff so it should be on there. Is it a complete story or is it something getting future seasons? (Want to be careful what I google not to spoil anything). Thanks for the recommendation either way.
Also remembered I should check out Shogun, might have to make a list and try to make sure I catch everything I want to see in one month if possible.
If season 2 of Silo is half as good as the first it will be worth watching. Although I'm guessing this one is still going to go for another season or two if I remember what you mentioned about the books it's based on. Being a huge Band of Brothers fan I'm interested in checking out Masters of the Air on Apple too.

@BearsEatBeets It is a fairly contained season, but with an ending leading into the next (which is underway, so no cancellation worries there). And, yeah, there are some pretty huge things that happen very early on that will work best if unspoiled, so going in as blind as possible is absolutely a good idea
And I'm tempted to implore you to drop everything and just go straight to "Shogun". I mean, even stop reading this and get on it right away Insanely good show!
Yeah, I believe the current plan for "Silo" is to wrap up the story in the next two seasons, which I think is a good idea and a good fit for the remaining storylines.
I haven't seen "Masters of the Air"; I've heard it's good, but doesn't match up to the fantastic "Band of Brothers", but then again, what show could? Would love to hear what you think of it, one "Band of Brothers" fan to another.

FuriousMachine

BearsEatBeets

@FuriousMachine I'll probably re-sub to Disney+ a day or two before Andor season 2 drops to rewatch the first season and go from there. I pondered waiting until the whole second season was out but don't want to risk any spoilers online.
Once I'm done with Disney I'll sort Apple and let you know what I think. Nothing compares to Band of Brothers for me, I consider it one of the greatest television shows created. So I doubt Masters of the Air will be that good but maybe similar to The Pacific, not quite as good but still a quality show.

@BearsEatBeets @FuriousMachine

I'll check if Paradise is on right now, as I'm wondering what it is anyway. Most Hulu stuff goes to Disney UK, but I won't guarantee it until I see it .. Paradise. Drama. Thriller. High-syakes investigation? That the one? It's on Disney UK.

And as for Shogun, I'm going to slap that on at some point when I'm a decent chunk of the way through AC Shadows. As I usually like to pair AC games with podcasts, books or tv shows about similar periods in the history of the region in each game. And by all accounts, Shogun is going to be a superb watch, I'm certain.

After many years of trying, I’ve managed to convince the missus to watch Farscape with me. I watched it back when it used to air on BBC2 at 6pm over 20 years ago and have always fancied going back.

We just finished season 1 and while it’s definitely aged and there’s certainly a lot of filler (monster-of-the-week type eps)… the show really hit its stride in the last third of the season with Chianna, Scorpius, Stark and Talyn all being introduced. We’ll take a little break now and watch a few seasons of other shows before starting season 2 in a month or so. The end of season 1 has got me quite excited for what’s to come.

@graymamba
I actually started watching this a few weeks back, mainly as it seems to be on all of the streaming services so not much of a chance of it being removed from all of the them before I get to the last episode.
Not bad, a bit like Buck Rodgers I guess (well not really). My favourite character is Lord whatever he is called.

I started watching Ash vs Evil dead and Outrageous fortune which is a drama about a NZ crime family going straight, I started to watch it for the NZ scenery which is totally absent. Actually not bad and we all know how good Evil dead is.

@CaptD that’s mad… as you didn’t hear a great deal about Farscape when it was actually airing let alone all these years later.

I did watch a season or two of Ash vs Evil back when that first aired too and remember enjoying it… even if it didn’t quite hit the highs of Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. Haven’t heard of Outrageous Fortune though, I’ll have to look into it.

@graymamba @CaptD Farscape is my all time favourite show. It's up there with Battlestar Galactica. I'd love to be able to convince my wife to watch them with me.

Enjoy your in for a treat the further in you get!

@MightyDemon82 yeah I can’t wait to get to some of the awesome mini-arcs of seasons 2, 3 and 4… and obviously The Peacekeeper Wars. Without wanting to denigrate season 1 too much… we’re through the worst of it and onto the gravy.

Started watching The Pitt after seeing it had rave reviews online. Only a few episodes in, but really liking it so far. It all taking place in real time gives it this really sprawling feel as the show weaves through these developing narratives, while new ones are introduced or resolved winding through it. I also have no idea how accurate this is because I am not a doctor, but it also doesn't really have any exposition, everyone uses a lot of either real or made up medical jargon for everything and will just get on with whatever procedure they need to complete. It will sometimes use the interns as a way for characters to indirectly explain to the audience what exactly they are doing, but a lot of the time it just trusts the audience to follow what is happening by just processing what they are seeing, not being narrated and it is a weirdly rewarding experience as you start to pick up on certain things as jargon is reused etc

Life to the living, death to the dead.
