Get in there Lando P2 in quali. Great effort from Russell too getting a Williams to P9. Missed most of the qualifying because of the tennis but great result.
George Russell on fire, P8 (for sprint race) ahead of a Ferrari! Should be interesting to see how this new system works out this weekend. Fun quali, especially with the crowd noise.
@BearsEatBeets With a few tweaks it could work but maybe not at every track.
Five or six laps might be more fun but no matter how few you do, almost all of the action is going to be in that first lap unless you have a nightmare like Perez!
@Thrillho Definitely best to see how it goes with the other few test weekends before deciding to go fully in with it or not, or like you say tweak it.
Personally I think the length worked quite well as it was just long enough for a few drivers to try a different tyre which added to the mix. It allowed Alonso to make his awesome start but also gave other drivers a bit of time to fight back. Sainz managed to recover a fair amount after his early incident and I think the length will mean the drivers will chance more moves.
Still it might go very different at another track, time will tell.
@Thrillho It was just a crazy race to be honest. I also think it was a bit harsh on Hamilton but I can understand why the penalty was given. Still, he brought it back!
@Thrillho@nessisonett I think it probably should have just been classed as a racing incident. They both knew getting the lead early was vital. It was a risky move but I think they each expected the other to back out and neither did.
A hell of a fight back from Hamilton though to get the win and decent of him to acknowledge it wouldn't of happened if Bottas hadn't basically jumped out of the way for him. Keeps the title race nice and competitive going forward.
Also worth saying good job Max is okay. 51G crash sounds horrific.
He did indeed, what a drive by George. Gutted for Lando especially as he was dominating up to that point. If it's like this tomorrow it should be a good race.
You want to watch Martin Brundle take a whack to the head from Jos Verstappens rear wheel in the 1994 Brazilian GP to see how it was down to pure luck as to whether drivers survived these sorts of incidents in the past...
@Iver I've not seen much this year but Red Bull just sound like the most arrogant, spoilt team.
How Max got away without any punishment last weekend, I don't know. It seems he'll manage to avoid getting punished for not slowing down on the double yellows in his flying lap today too!
