@Titntin Unfortunately it seems to come lower down in the order of importance behind money, money and also money. Much like a lot of sports nowadays.
Yeah, keeping fingers crossed for the new regs but I'm not holding my breath. The cars need to shrink about 30-40% not the 3% or whatever we are getting.
@Kairuuu@Titntin Utterly insane. To get death threats about almost anything is psychotic behaviour, but specifically THIS, when the claim he let Norris through on purpose was clearly false, is just another level of unhinged. The fact it's not just one random nut-job but a fleet of them is doubly troubling, but sadly not a surprise. I'm glad Red-Bull and GP set the record straight, and even though it was a stupid thing to say in the first place, it should never have caused that reaction.
@BearsEatBeets Agreed on cars shrinking in an ideal world, but it's unlikely to happen mostly due to safety.
I suspect all our earlier concerns about rule changes will come true with one team running out in front and the field being pushed apart. However I hope there are some benefits e.g.
a reordered grid. I would love it if Williams or someone not in the big 4 came to the fore and some of these top drivers had to drive through the field (see below).
hopefully more actual racing, not DRS trains and other issues. (But I'm not that hopeful here, width and aero dynamics here are an issue)
@themightyant yeah my biggest wish for next season (other than decent all-round racing) is a Williams able to compete for wins as well as the Aston for Fernando.
Best of luck to Hadjar. Got to hope the Red Bull is less of a beast to tame and he can do well. I have to feel a little sorry for Yuki. Maybe if he keeps a strong link with Honda he can get a way back in if Fernando decides to retire after next season but that is still probably a long shot.
This could the most important qualifying of Lando's career.
EDIT: Not a fan of what they have done with the final corner (and some others) here. Driving as close to the limit whilst maintaining control so as not to exceed it is part of being an expert driver. Pushing the curb further out and making the white line over a foot wide just makes it easy for everyone.
Its set up for excitement, lets hope its all clean and sporting in the race. Kinda surprised George isnt up the front too as the Merc looked fast earlier.
I think a lot of the excitement tomorrow will stem from Max knowing being first isn't enough. If Lando is still right behind him after the first few corners he is going to be playing games. He will likely do the final sector as slowly as possible to bunch everyone up behind him to try and create chaos/overtakes.
I just really hope we get nothing that needs stewards to get involved with.
Sky might need to rethink Martin's grid walk for next year. All the races are becoming like Monaco jammed full with celebrities and rich folk with seemingly very superficial interest in the sport. Martin trying to get anything interesting from them is like getting blood from a stone.
