@StitchJones Yeah, the real dynasty runs seem like a relic of the past. Would be cool to see something like that again. Shesterkin is amazing. I think goaltending is absolutely the first piece to building a rock solid team. I don’t have to look farther than Edmonton to see how detrimental a weak goaltending situation can be. I think we’re getting there on defence but it’s a work in progress. Parekh’s been hyped up to be a Makar or Hughes type; it’s been a slow start but I’m starting to see it. If he can bring more consistent plays like this, I’ll buy the hype.
@Metonymy Wow, what a right corner snipe. I can see the similarities in quinn/makar. He's got great edgework with his skating that can extend plays. The big, strong shut down Dmen are not a thing of the past, they will always be needed. But now it seems like a shift in the NHL, where the better skating Dmen are pretty much essential. Its like having a 4th forward on the ice too. Matthew Schaeffer is another one that has this type of game and went #1 overall for a reason. He tied Brian Leetch's record for most goals by a rook Dman. I'm glad he didn't break it. Not only cause Leetch was a Ranger, but Rangers/Fishsticks is like our version of the battle of alberta. I can't Fin stand the Fishsticks. They are our arch enemy. I hate the Flyers too, but that's another conversation.
I still can't believe the Fishsticks had the 10th best odds to win the lottery last year and they won it and got Schaeffer. Florida is sitting at #8 right now. Can you imagine Florida landing Mckenna or even Stenberg??? I don't think that would be good for the league to be honest hahaha.
yeah, I saw, the first 10 proj picks, there's a lot of good Dmen available. I hope the Rangers at least get #2 if not #1, cause that will force them to take Stenberg. I don't want them forced to take a Dman because of draft position. Unless there's a makar/hughes type player. We need help scoring on the wings, esp after trading Panarin.
