Idk but I heard a news article saying that Jim Ryan said that the UI could be revealed in the coming weeks. I just hope Sony doesn't go silent like they did after the June event. Who else wants to see the UI in action?
@NeoRider I think we'll see the UI in it's final form soon enough. I think the more important point you've touched on is that Sony can't go radio silent again. They've been great at talking to the industry and developers, they need to talk to customers more now. I think they need some in-depth State of Play much like the ones they've done for TLoU2 and Ghost of Tsushima which were brilliant. Do that for launch games and beyond, they can do it I'm sure of it. They need to keep talking.
This has to go down as the strangest console release ever!
I have pre-ordered the PS5 but not knowing everything about it which is kinda odd to me but Sony know we will always buy it regardless of what information they release it us.
Hopefully things start getting back to normal next year so we get E3 and other gaming events.
So here we are over a week late and Sony have gone back into radio silence mode. Jim Ryan is the worst PlayStation Exec in the history of PlayStation. I refuse to believe they don't know what the UI looks like, what the insides look like, how backwards compatibility works... and a whole host of other things.
If I don't see it until the release of the PS5, that would be fine too. Obviously I'm curious, but only games really affect whether or not I want to own the console or not.
In the end it's all water under the bridge for me, because only the games count. I liked the Xbox 360 controller way better than the DualShock 3. So I was at one point considering getting an Xbox One this gen. But then I compared the games that were announced for both consoles and I was like, yea, who am I kidding?
@NeoRider I have paid for my PS5 in full and is arriving on launch day (Hopefully) so as a customer i think we deserve to see everything now as delivery is only 6 weeks away!
I kinda want it to be a surprise. I like the idea of booting up the console for the first time and not knowing what to expect. I have a confirmed day one console, so a mediocre UI isn't going to turn me off of the PS5.
Agreed, while some don't care about the UI - I actually want to know and see what the UI looks like in action and what kind of user experience we can expect.
Not only that, but how does BC work, what about PS4 game saves on PS5 - can I just copy them across from a USB drive, do they need to be uploaded to the cloud and then downloaded on PS5.
What NVMe SSDs are compatible with PS5? What about installing games, can we install/uninstall certain features as has been revealed for XSX? Can we use an external drive as temp storage and copy games across from/to the main SSD?
I love the resume feature on PS4, can we expect multi-game resume on PS5? What about Themes and customisation? Trophies - do we have real time stat tracking ala Xbox, what about the level cap ?
I could go on, seriously and yes, I'm sure we'll find out in due course but this info should be out in the wild and really should have been shared before pre-orders went live IMO!
The vast majority of these have been raised by this site but I would like to know when Sony will grace us with this knowledge rather than having to rely on leaks and rumors. Yes, ultimately it's about the games but we're literally weeks away from launch and still none the wiser!
