Sorry if this is a question that’s been answered elsewhere but I’ve been searching for answer and have come up with nowt. Was hoping you guys could help.
I know PS5 games have to be on the internal storage to use. But where I have a PS4 game that has been upgraded with a PS5 version, does that also have to be on internal storage to get all the benefits? Or can I leave it on my external hard drive and still take advantage of the PS5 enhancements?
Depends on what you mean by "upgraded with a PS5 version". If you mean an actual PS5 version, it's now a PS5 game so it can't be played from an external drive.
If you mean something like God Of War, Days Gone or Ghost of Tsushima (so a PS4 game that runs better on PS5), that will still run better even from external drive (might not load as fast but every other enhancement will be available).
Look at YouTube videos, a decent external ssd will benefit load times. Thats a trade off for the price vs hdd storage capacity. I got an nvme ssd in an enclosure for my ps4 games and couldn't be happier, just waiting for the internal expansion to open up and I'll be set.
