Topic: Seems like Sony/PlayStation is now getting the "MJ affect"

This has been around since the beginning of time, but I call it the "MJ affect". The Michael Jordan affect. You know, when somebody or something amongst society is on top, dominating for a while. At first, everybody is on the wagon, loves (them, he/she, or it) and it receives a ton of praise by the consensus, while still having some detractors at the same time. Hence (praised by the consensus, and not the whole),

But then sooner or later the MJ affect kicks in and whoever is on top, in this case Sony/Playstation, everyone is looking to knock them off that high horse. Dig up dirt, 1/2 the articles turn negative, constant complaints etc etc.

This dawned on me after the uproar over the latest studio closing news from yesterday. Now today there's an article on here about Sony "sinking to 21st in Metacritic publisher rankings" with a picture of Herman on the thumbnail. And of course, his pic was on the negative article, since he has become Sony's bashing mascot for the masses.

Let's analyze this and see why its an "MJ affect" and is unwarranted hate towards Sony. And yes, they have made unforced errors, I will not deny that. But if you think they are remotely as bad as what Xbox has done the last 2 gens, get a life, its not even close. Xbox is the poster child on how to F up a console business. Hell, Xbox has made some decisions that were a detriment to the whole industry, not just xbox.

Sony's biggest and only mistake really worth any kind of bashing is obv their GAAS push. They took a gamble that was worth taking but did not execute. It was indeed a bad decision. But you take risks in any big business. Its just how it works. None of you own stock in Sony, so your $$$$ is safe. So all it did was put some studios behind on their outuput. But you all need to get over it. There has been an onslaught of games to play this gen. Everyone has backlogs and the rest of the year is still stacked. So if ND needs to cook Intergalactic until the end of the ps5 gen, then oh well. Get over yourself.

the GAAS push started the MJ affect ball rolling, but of course the bluepoint closing pushed the ball down the hill. All that pent up hate on Sony, daily, with every article, comment, podcast etc was all for nothing because you all jumped the gun w.o. knowing details. After the ins/outs were released, it seemed that bluepoint was fumbling all over the place with their own decisions internally and you don't put $$$ into a losing operation. That closure was warranted afterall.

The "bloodborne remake Sony bashing" So many years of bashing Sony calling them clueless for not greenlighting a remake, was all for not as well. Cause in the bluepoint details, it turned out that Fromsoft were the ones being jerks on the whole thing, squashing the game being remade, while Sony wanted it done.

This latest studio closure news.....What has that team done other than a whole lot of nothing so far??? Yeah, what I thought. Again, in big business, you don't pour $$$ into a losing studio. They were just another Bluepoint. Given an opportunity, but no output and dumb internal decisions. But let's keep the hate train rolling anyways with the negative articles, cause this is the MJ affect Sony is getting.

Now another pointless article of Sony bashing on here today, entitled "Sony sinks to 21st in Metacritic publisher rankings". Ok, so what? What is the F'ing point of that article other than inciting a further riot? I would expect them to be at that all time low, when you consider some of their best devs have been cooking late into the gen because of the GAAS push. At least its not because Sony 1st party games have turned to trash. Its more like, there hasn't been a whole lot to put up on metacritic.

Another thing that triggered all this, was the fact that Xbox has been urinating on itself for 2 full gens now and got so bad, that they are not even competition to Sony anymore. The ps4 and esp the ps5 has pissed all over xbox in sales its not even close.

Everyone keeps saying "omg Sony is going to get so much worse, now that they have zero competition". Yeah, cause all of a sudden Naughty Dog and their top tier devs are going to flip a switch and start putting out crap now that xbox did a titanic.

The funny thing is, while all the hate is spewed, the uproar over GAAS and studio closures, the hate for Herman etc, the ps5 continues to sell heaps even to the point that the ps5pro (as expensive as it is) has recently gotten a kick in the pants in sales.
