Topic: Random Turn on of PS5

Hi I know there is an issue with the HDCP settings that can cause the PS5 to turn on but this doesn't seem to be the issue with mine. Whenever I go near it when it is off it will power up, without any touch of the controllers or media remote. Has anyone else experienced this and/or got a fix for it?

In the latest update the PS5 has gained sentience. It knows when you’re nearby. Don’t watch 2001: A Space Odyssey, by the way. This won’t end well.

@PRICH2233 it’s probably the media remote, that seems to have been the issue for other people. Try taking the batteries out of it for now and see if it stops happening.

@Abarth_71 I use a projector and happens without me powering it on. Thanks

@kyleforrester87 Thanks I'll try that. My media remote has recently stopped working to power on the projector that I use. I tried unpairing and re-pairing it but ti keeps saying its failed.

@PRICH2233 good stuff! Although keeping the batteries out your remote unless you want to use it is less than ideal, at least you know what’s causing it!

@PRICH2233 (try new batteries, it’s possible if they are low it could be sending out a signal? They shouldn’t be low but if they are cheapo ones you never know)
