I know PS5 (currently) does not support copying PS5 Saved Data to a USB Drive. So, for the time being, we are stuck with uploading to PS+ Cloud Storage only.
I have two accounts on my PS5. One with a PS+ subscription and one without. I can happily play online on both accounts.
My question is, when I upload my Saved Data to Cloud Storage from the PS+ account, does the non-PS+ Saved Data on the same console get sent, too?
Obviously, I don't want to pay for another PS+ subscription just for the sake of backing up game progress on the non-PS+ account.
This is one feature I really want. It should at least be allowed for all accounts linked to a family account on the same PS5. I guess the reason you can't do this is either technical or financial or a bit of both but still really annoying that you can't.
That's what I assumed, too, but I haven't seen any official word on this.
Is your info from an official source?
It seems a bit counter-intuitive to be able to play online with a non-PS+ account but not be able to save game progress, despite already having a PS+ subscription on that console.
I understand the greed aspect of it and all they want is our money... but they already have my money! Two PS+ subscriptions on the same console? They know what they can do 😀
Hopefully one day they will come to their senses and provide a simple USB backup for PS5 save data.
@Bat-n-Ball Do a quick Google search. Lots of places say you need Plus for cloud saves.
Maybe Sony will allow it one day for two accounts on one console etc, but I wouldn't hold my breath lol.
I did some Googling before posting here but I couldn't find anything official about game saves for all accounts which are on the same console on which a PS+ subscription is already being paid.
It does seem obvious that game saves are not allowed on accounts with no PS+ subscription because it's clearly stated in Upload to Cloud Storage that, "To use this feature, subscribe to PlayStation Plus". But, I (maybe naively) thought that by uploading game save data from the account with a subscription, that it would somehow save all the game save data from all accounts on that console, to the cloud.
Years ago, I remember online play being free with PlayStation which is why I bought PS over XB in the first place... but we live in a greedy society. What they gave free before is now a subscription service. There are reportedly 47 million subscribers to PlayStation Plus. Times that by what people are paying! With that kind of revenue I'm sure Sony could make a few concessions here and there to keep gamers 'sweet'.
