I was pretty close to quitting gaming, or at least taking a long extended break until GoW:R and HFW and BotW2, but then I got a PS5 so I'm reenergized and looking to get back to it. Not on Switch though, not even ACNH update could back me back on more than a few minutes. I know people have been complaining about Sony's lack of holiday games, and fairly so, and Switch has Dread, but it's really nothing for me this year. I bought It takes Two to play w/ my wife, and Spiderman Miles Morales b/c Sony Rewards gave me $75 - you perused that thread, right? - but that was last year. I just pre-ordered Elden Ring for my kids birthday, had $5 BB rewards expiring and the steelcase looks cool, but no way I'm playing a From Software game. But even though I screwed up PS+ I still have a couple of the "Collection" games to play, so we'll get our $40 out of it, even if I'm missing access to over 100 games.

So yeah, burnt out. 3 years of Switch Pro rumours will do that to a guy. So guess it's good I got a PS5.

Why didn't your cloud saves work if you have PS+? You run out of room? Your smarter than I am so you probably know you had to turn it on in settings. Paying for cloud saves in 2021 does seem kind of lame, Sony couldn't even include it w/ their $500 console? I'm still bummed no 1 week free trial on PS+ w/ the system to suck people in. But I'm a trials & demos kind of guy so....

You missed the monster of all nightmare switch threads lol. I think you'd have poured kerosene on the dumpster hellfire lol 😂. Tldr, I'm kind of with you right now on that. I have smtv but that's all that pulls me onto it at least until rune factory5.

I really never figured out why cloud saves didn't work. Right account, it was enabled, seemed to be working.... Vita cloud saves worked. But not the pro. I didn't hook it up again to figure it out, but that was annoying. I'm probably never play those games again anyway. Jim tells me I shouldn't want to. Then again Jim wants me to buy the leaked service with more old games on it.... Shrug.. maybe cloud save will be free come spring with the service change up. The idea is so old Nintendo is doing it now

@NEStalgia @rjejr Having recently utilized the free FF7R upgrade from PS4 disc to PS5 Intergrade version — If you put in your PS4 “data disc”, your PS4 will automatically start downloading the PS4 version of the game from the disc onto your PS5 console. So you have to manually cancel that because that’s like 80 GB and an hour of your time that you don’t need to waste. Then go to the game’s icon and there should be a button to click to upgrade to Intergrade. I forget exactly where that button is but I think it was fairly intuitive. Then after an hour or however long it takes your internet to download the PS5 Intergrade game from the PSN, you can open the game (as long as the disc is in the machine) and play. Once in the game menu, there all kinds of prompts to buy the Yuffie DLC. The game will throw ads at you every play session, so it’s hard to miss.

As a work around to that first step of the PS5 stupidly downloading the PS4 version — you could try and put the “Play Disc” in first rather than the “Data Disc” and then you shouldn’t have to cancel the downloading of the PS4 game onto your hard drive (as obviously there’s very little game data on the play disc).
I didn’t do it that way, but it makes sense that it should work. And in fact (and I think I commented on this in another thread back when I was playing the game), since your PS4 version has a “data disc” and a “play disc” and it doesn’t matter which disc is in the PS5, as long as one of them is, then you could technically give one of the discs to a family or friend who has a PS5 also and you both can play the Intergrade game for free. It’s a two-for-one deal. I don’t have friends or family who play so I’ve not tried that.

That's like EVERY Switch thread. 😂 I don't think I've attempted any DLC stuff since last I wrote. Got the PS4 version of Dreams downloaded onto my PS5 via the website, save worked, but that's all. Football tonight and tomorrow. And Christmas shopping, I need to go buy some gifts right now and email my mom a list. And make coffee. Coffee first. Energy drinks are all yours. 😝

@Th3solution That's a much better description than mine, and I didn't launch the game and see the ads, so that makes finding the dlc easier. It's crazy that you delete the PS4 version to get the PS5 version and then it tells you it's intergrade but isn't actually Intergrade without the dlc...

The PS5 versioning system is awful, but square managed to make it worse somehow

@rjejr Good point... I used to think the ps fandom was the worst, but post switch the Nintendo fandom makes it look good!

Between Sony and Xbox, there's an almost subliminal compulsion to buy Monster... Both of them keep shoving it in our face as the default gamer beverage. Which is weird, energy drinks are basically a sugar-saltwater blend to replenish hydration from profuse sweating. Are "sweaty gamer nerds" not a mythical meme? Or does the modern hardware run so hot you lose 5lb in water weight playing video games near it, requiring energy drinks to rehydrate? 🤔

@NEStalgia Yeah I don't get the whole "energy" drink thing. I mean sure if you're locked in 1 of those houses in South Korea as a 20 hour a day "pro" gamer then you need to stay awake, but don't the rest of us have beds and bathrooms, we're not Amazon deliverers?

@rjejr Funny thing is it's literally just made of the caffeine they remove from coffee to make decaf. Then they powder it, add sugar, food coloring, and double the price. Between Halo and death stranding were beyond subliminal messaging, it's just pure brainwashing now.

@NEStalgia Humans have gotten too stupid to understand subliminal advertising. Put on halftime of the Sunday night football game, it's the "Halo Infinite" set. We're working our way towards Blade runner or Robocop, some ad driven dystopian future. Almost there.

@JohnnyShoulder Must be weird shopping for new tvs in inches if you don't even use that measurement. 75 is kind of large but our old 1 we purchased 10 years ago was 52", which replaced the 36" SD square, so while I wanted only 65" - much better price at that size - I realized 65" would barely look bigger than 52 so had to go with 75. I can't get any bigger though, won't fit through the house to get down the stairs. Maybe in another decade when I'm too old to go up and down 2 flights of stairs I'll get a bigger one for the main living room wall, could maybe get 10 feet in there.😁

@rjejr What do you mean almost? We've been there for years. I bought Cyberpunk on a whim on XSX just out of curiosity at half price, old Blade Runner/Electric Sheep/P. K. Dick fan. Tried it out a bit.... it's both blander than expectations and better than lead to believe, grimmer and darker than imagined possible. But mostly couldn't continue....it's basically just reality but with a slight 80's neon vibe. These things used to seem like fantastical dystopian dreams of a worse reality than possible. Now it just feels like sensationalized normal. Have to get back to Witcher 3. If I can choose my own ending I'd rather get mauled by a dark dragon than by an organ harvesting baller in Haywood. Notice a disturbing theme in games about organ harvesting? Cyberpunk, Watchdogs Legion, even Deus Ex..... That really is the future, isn't it? Niven was right.

And in true Nivenese fasion, why bother with 10ft TVs. With PSVR2 you can beam the images straight into your retinas. No need for the outside world. And who wants to know there's an outside world when it just consists of organ harvesting ballers? At least while they break you down you can be contently devoured by a dark dragon and not know the difference.
