I'm actually really excited about it. I enjoyed the first one, and I'm hoping they get to addressing some of the criticisms. Overall I think Hogwarts Legacy was a decent game.
I love exploration games so this was lots of fun for me. The environment is gorgeous and I want to hang out in the Scottish countryside on any given day as it is. (I'm Australian but HATE Summer. My ideal temps are 0-15°C).
I never read the books. I tried several times but wasn't able to keep reading. To explain, it wasn't offensive, or upsetting, or boring. I literally found my eyes wandering away from the page. So strange that this is the only time this has happened to me. I tried 20 years ago. I tried again years later, same result. Anyway...
My main issue (I don't even want to call it a disappointment) was the feeling that your character's house had zero impact on the game.
I understand the main questline(s) have to be immune to house alliances, but I'd like to see more than cosmetic impact. Some social mechanics between different houses, some effect on your character's abilities or perks.
For example, you can build relationships with different NPCs and that impacts how other members of that house treat you. Or different types of perks to your combat spells or even some abilities that are exclusive to each house. This would really incentivise replaying the game, more than just finding outfits and seeing home rooms.
Many other people have already talked about the lacklustre classes thing, with reference to other games like Bully. I tend to agree that I'd like to see some impact on your house points or some consequences, nothing game breaking, from your academic performance.
It really feels like the PC in the first one is able to get away with anything. Like at least if you zap a fellow student you should lose house points or something!
The other one I thought of some time ago was the whole deal with creatures and poachers. The babies you breed don't grow up and you don't get to impact the wild populations. I'd like to see some relationship between ecology and your efforts to defeat poachers. The camps should reappear if you haven't dealt with them for a while, and numbers of animals start coming down again. You should be able to release the ones you've bred to keep populations healthy. It just seemed to drop off a cliff once you put them in the RoR habitat. And the option to turn that off for people that aren't interested in such busywork. There's a good place to add some Hufflepuff perks as well, as they're meant to be good with animals and food.
Your store did basically nothing as well. It'd be fun to be able to customise and upgrade it, with unique items you can craft and sell. Some way of making the economy feel more impactful.
What would you like to see in the sequel?
