So I just set up my son's new PS5. I created a family account so he can use his own PS ID. I have PSNow tied to my user id and it was recognized when I was logged in but once he logged in it said that only a parent can purchase PSNow. I want to also subscribe to PSPlus and EA Play but do I need to do it under his PS ID? I would have thought that the services would work with a family account for both users. Is that not correct?

I was hoping to purchase all the services on my ID and then have him able to use them when he is signed in. Thanks!

@ks-man The account with a game license whether bought directly or acquired through PlayStation plus or PlayStation now need to download the game. Then assuming that is your primary PS5, any account on that PS5 can use the game.

Thanks. I did see if I download a game the he can play it through his account. He can't seem to stream games on his account. To stream it seems he needs to be logged in as me. It doesn't seem to make sense as there are a number of PS3 games he would enjoy streaming and I'd prefer if he didn't have to be logged in as me. I think streaming only occurs on PSNow and not on PSPlus or EA Play. I'm imagining that if my account has PSPlus subscribed his account will still be able to play online games. If that doesn't work we may have a problem.

@ks-man Yes everyone will be able to play online as long as someone has PlayStation plus and the PlayStation plus member has that console set as their primary console.

@ks-man When streaming PS now games if the account with PS now streams it first. Then a symbol will appear on your recently played games the same as if you had install the game. Anyone using the console can click on that symbol and stream the game even if they don’t have PlayStation now. Assuming the person with PlayStation Now has that set as their primary console.

Worst mistake was setting my kids account to child, I couldn't download spiderman for him even with all the restrictions turned off

@Ryall Thanks, it did work and showed the streamed game across his top bar but not in his Game Library. That should be OK for now.

The other issue I seem to be having is Online Play. I see the PS Plus logo on my account but not on his. We are having some issues with him playing online which I first thought was due to Parental Controls but it isn't. I don't know if it is that PS Plus isn't being recognized for him or if EA Play games that were downloaded from my account won't let him play online since EA Play was purchased on my account. I really thought this would all be seamless but has been anything but.

Should he be able to play EA Play games online if I subscribed to EA Play and downloaded games to the console and then he logs into the system? Thanks for all the help.

Ok, so it seems the issue was the age of his PSN account. I guess to play EA games online you need an EA account and it must be linked to your PSN account. EA has a minimum age of 13 years old for an account so it wouldn't link with his PSN account since that had him as too young. I created a new PSN and EA account for him with a higher age and it seems that he can now get online. Of course the main game he wants to play is Star Wars Battlefront 2 and the server seems to be down but at least the age issue seems to be fixed.
