Are the Sword Art online games MMORPG's like 'World of Warcraft', 'Terra' etc or are they single player RPG's like 'The legend of heroes Trails of Cold Steel' made to look like MMORPG's?

I’ve never played a SAO game before, but I’m almost positive it is primarily a JRPG that ‘looks like’ an MMO. In the anime it’s supposed to be an MMO though, so I think that’s what is confusing. The new one looks pretty good though. Apparently they took some influences from Destiny. I’ll probab pick it up day one if anyone on here wants to play co-op on it. I think it supports 4-player co-op.

If you are looking for an MMO like World of Warcraft on PS4 there are a few.

Neverwinter — This one reminds me the most of WoW, and best of all it's free, just need a PS+ sub. Also if you are a fan of Dungeon and Dragons the mechanics and such will be familiar to you.

Elder Scrolls Online — I personally haven't played this one but it seems to be popular especially if you are a fan of the Elder Scrolls games like Skyrim

Final Fantasy XIV — Again haven't played this one but from what I have seen, combat and such reminds me alot of WoW. Another one that's really popular.

Destiny 1 or 2 — Although combat makes it feel like Halo or other similar FPS games due to it being a FPS MMORPG it's a pretty good one. However if you are big into FPS you might want to pass on this one.

The Crew — This one is kinda odd. It's a street racing MMORPG. You have various quests called jobs in this game and car parts follow the rareity scheme like weapons and armor do in WoW. They are raid like events where you and your crew can compete in. Definitely has the MMO feel but if your not into racing games you might not like this one

There is also Diablo III which of course is made by Blizzard more of a dungeon cralwer but definitely has the WoW influence.

Thank you. I was looking at the Steam releases of the Sword Art games that turns out, mistakenly had an MMORPG tag on them, though I'm interested in purchasing the games for the PS4, as I figure the games are designed for PS4 before PC?
