@Dawgzila Shining Force 1 and 2 are the top games for me.Absolutely loved those games! Also looking forward to the Sonic and Streets Of Rage games myself along with Phantasy Star IV.So many great games in the collection but also so many great games missing.
Ive had my fill of SoR 2, Sonic and Shining Force now and am happy to move on to the left field megadrive games.

Sonic 1 and Golden Axe 1 are the most important games that makes me buy those collections everytime, but there are other games that I like too: Golden axe 3, Ristar, Columns 1, Altered beast, Space Harrier 2.
I never tried Landstralker and Fatal Labyrinth but they seem really interesting too, I'm going to try them too
I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee
This is the third Mega Drive Collection I've bought for a Sony console (fourth if you count the one I bought for my brother for his birthday). I have no regrets.
Already completed the first Sonic the Hedgehog with all the chaos emeralds. On Sonic 2 now.
I only bought it for Toejam and Earl though if I'm honest. The first one, not the rubbish platformer.
@Tasuki same i'm not going to buy an inferior product just because it's on the PS4, i'll stick to my PS3 version thanks

Won't be purchasing this collection, but I've played Toejam and Earl at least once a week for the last two or three years on the Wii virtual console. Played it countless times since the late 90's. Always multiplayer. It's a special game.
I'll be revisiting Phantasy Star and Thunder Force IV when the Sega Ages versions drop later in the year.
@Tasuki To be fair I do hear that the emulation is alot better than in previous collections on home consoles and some of the games have online play apparently.
@ReanSchwarzer7 Yeah but why would I need them when I have mostly originals and I don't play those games online anyway. Besides I can use that money for other games.

Ive now played a good 30 games out of the selection.
Some of these games are really interesting like Crackdown and Dynamite Headdy and everyone knows what they are getting with Sonic and Streets of Rage. But Im questioning if most of the included games have stood the test of time.
Theres maybe 7 games from the 30 so far I would play again. Dynamite Headdy, Crackdown (this is more out of curiosity than quality), Sonic 1 + 2, Streets of Rage 2 + 3 and Shining Force 2. The rest just dont play very well so far.

@themcnoisy interesting text. Please do update when you have played more from the collection. I'd like to know your thoughts of the games that are truly worth it nowadays. IMHO SoR 1-3 are forever.
So apart from Sonic 3 and Knuckles what are some obvious omissions? From the top of my head I can only think of Master System and Mega CD games like the original Phantasy Star, Sonic CD, the 8 bit versions of some games. I hope they sell them as DLC or as a second collection.
@Quintumply I really like it a lot but it is a little too hard for my taste and the jump height is a little frustrating imho, should have been higher to be more fun. But I really like it a lot, I even completed it with all the treasures (thanks to the saved states ) many years ago.
I try to not use save states too much (Super Castlevania on Wii Virtual console taught me how better a game can be if you don't overuse them) but I wuoldn't even try to play this game without saved states. It is great but it could have been much more enjoyable with some tweaks to the difficulty. Sonic 1 will always be my favourite anyway.
@Quintumply Such an overlooked gem Ristar is. Coming out so late in the Genesis life cycle caused alot of people to miss this game. Probably one of my favorite Genesis games of all time.
If you ever want a good watch check out The Gaming Historian's vidoe on Ristar
