Topic: Persona 5 for PS3 and PS4

I currently only own a Vita and I am a new (and huge) fan of Atlus games, especially Shin Megami Tensei and Persona.

I want to get Persona 5 when it releases next year, but I don't know whether to get the PS3 version (which buying a pre-owned PS3 will be a lot cheaper), or the PS4 version. I understand that the PS4 version will run better but the question I want to know is how much better?

Currently, websites have reported a comparison on 3 screenshots, which look almost identical, save for a crisper image, slightly brighter colours, and shorter loading times. The graphics and texture work remains largely identical however.

Does anyone know if the PS4 version runs at 1080p and 60fps? Or what resolution and framerate it does run at? The resolution doesn't bother me too much but the framerate on the PS4 version is the difference between which console I will buy for the game. I will get the PS3 version if the game is simply a minor visual and resolution increase on the PS4 but locked at 30fps. Unless it runs particularly poorly.

I'm actually also a new "fan" of these types of games ever since I started playing through Persona 4 Golden on the Vita. I've put in almost 70 hours into the game and this is my new favorite game of all-time, so I'm extremely excited to play Persona 5. The Persona games (or at least the later ones) are some of the most unique games I've come across at a time where most games just copy and paste the same formulas again and again. P4G is unlike anything I've ever played before.

Personally, I will get the PS4 version because it will be the superior version out of those two. The thing is about these cross-generation games is that the version for the oldest console will almost always be limited in terms of the content. I'm pretty sure there will be more differences between the PS3 and the PS4 version than just the technical aspects, so just to be safe, I'll be getting the superior one from the beginning. It also doesn't hurt that I can Remote Play that game on PS4 to my Vita so I can enjoy playing it portable just like P4G. And being able to take screenshots at any time on PS4 is also nice, because P4G had some really hilarious moments that I just had to screenshot.

One thing to consider is that the old-style PS4s will likely be a fair bit cheaper by the time Persona 5 comes out, since the PS4 Pro will be out by then!

Thanks, hopefully the prices of pre-owned PS4s will be low enough for a purchase when Persona 5 comes out next year. I'm still siding with the PS3 version for now until I see a more detailed analysis of how the game runs on both consoles.

@KratosMD As far as I am aware, the PS3 and PS4 version content reported to be identical. The differences are really in the visuals department. The PS4 is a port of the PS3 version and as such, no content was cut for the PS3 version.
