Topic: Games you didnt like, but now do!

Interested to see if anyone has disliked a game and then after replaying actually started to enjoy it much later on. This has happened to me with ff12, watchdogs and viewtiful Joe. And I now think they are great.

For me first impressions are quite important. It also depends on what it was that put me off from playing/enjoying a game and the reason for returning. I can't think of any specific game but if I were to dislike a game that much it is unlikely that I will return to replay at a later date - especially as there is already a back catalogue of games I am enjoying and yet to finish - I still have many last gen games that I was enjoying and never finish or play anymore - not since I upgraded both (I still have both my PS3 and XB360 set up as well). This list is also increasing with each new purchase and only looks set to increase further with quite a few new releases I want due out this year. If there is a specific reason I stopped playing that affected my enjoyment but is subsequently patched to fix these issues, I may return to it but more often than not, the damage is done and I am now playing other games.

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

With you on FFXII. Couldn't get into it first time round, and only got about a quarter of the way through. Second playthrough it got its claws in and now it's one of my favourites in the series. Definitely one of my most wanted HD remasters!

From 16/08/15 I’m going for sober for six months to raise money for the Princess Alice Hospice. Donations can be made here and anything you can offer is greatly appreciated: https://www.justgiving.com/Stephen-Butler5

Wish me luck!

Yup call of duty - I think that also works in reverse from liking it to hating it. Ff12 would buy a hd remake in an instant (just like ff10 which is boss on vita).

BAMozzy - that's perfect in this day and age. My backlog was huge at one point but now I purchase games as I trade them in so I only ever have 6 or so games at any point. I got to a weird point on the 360 were I only had games that I didn't finish and have all the achievements for and that collection was a bit rubbish as all the good games I had completed. I'm talking 20-30 rubbish games. On previous generations I only kept the games I liked regardless if it was completed or not. But great points, so what games did you dislike and then liked?

While I never hated it I enjoyed my second play through of Mass Effect 3 way more then my first. Having all the DLC the second time around made it a much better game.

I found that with every mass effect game. I didn't like me2 due to the episodic nature of it initially, but on a rerun once I accepted it and played it for what it was its now one of my favourite games ever.

Like I said - First Impressions... I can't think of any game that I disliked and then liked on a subsequent playthrough. If I disliked them, they tended not to get played again - Partly because of that first impression and partly because I have games I like still to finish. Its difficult to warrant trying a game I disliked again when I still have games I like still to play.

I never trade games though and still have some games I didn't like as well as games I doubt I will ever replay even though I really enjoyed them. I rarely replay stories but I would rather replay some of these than try and play a game that I didn't like. For me, First Impressions do seem to make a lasting impression.

If a game had a specific issue that affected my enjoyment but had 'something' about it that I enjoyed, I potentially would return if the developers fixed that issue. As an example, say a game was enjoyable if and when you could connect to online servers but connecting and matchmaking was problematic, I may return if they fixed that.

Finshed legends - did you find the levels with that helper flying frog thing were annoying though? But yeah had it since I got the ps4 and only finished it a few weeks back. Traded in and miss it already. But it did take a while to get me hooked.
