OK, I bought a PS3 controller about a month ago because my old one stopped working, and 2 weeks after getting it, the battery was dying. Me and my mom ordered a new PS3 controller battery off of Amazon and put it in ourselves, and it's been a week, and it's already down to 2 bars. What do we do?

3 bars means it's full, so 2 bars after one week is perfectly normal. Just recharge it via USB, if they're official Dualshock 3's they'll last a good few hours.

My PS3 USB is always plugged in to the controller.

I found out the PS3 controller ONLY charges when the PS3 console is on, and my USB isn't charging the controller.
Someone told me you can buy a charging dock. What charging docks do you recommend?

Yes, the PS3 doesn't have a 'rest mode' like the PS4 - it's either on or off.

The holy grail of the PS3 charger docks used to be the official Sony or Competition Pro ones but they've been out of production for many, many years now.
I think I got mine from Amazon about 10 years ago. It was advertised as Competition Pro but it wasn't. What I received was a UK mini-USB plug transformer (like a mobile phone one) connected to a dual bay dock. To be fair, it's still working today so I'd suggest having a look on eBay (or Amazon) and see what you can find.

Something like this?
