Topic: Local multiplayer recommendations.

What are some good, quality games on PS3 with good local multiplayer? I've got Resistance 2 and can play that and modnation racers, but everything else is online only. I get that now it's not that popular but me and my friends never buy the same games so online isn't really an option.

Modern Warfare 2 has good co-op and split-screen unlockables and levels. Black Ops has zombies and splitscreen unlockables aswell as being able to play splitscreen online and combat training splitscreen which puts you against bots which you can set to certain difficulty levels. Little Big planet also have fun split-screen co-op for up to 4 people. If you only have 2 people then Borderlands is a lot of fun split screen although it takes some getting used 2 with like only half a menu on the screen. Resident Evil 5 gold edition has good co-op aswell

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, Bionic Commando ReArmed (I swear, I must have recommended this game in 3 different topics already), and pretty much any Call of Duty has split-screen.

if you are a resident evil fan play Resident Evil 5 it's a lot of fun whether your playing story or mercenaries it's great

I'll check in on call of duty, me and my friend both have mobilized so sure, neither of us are into resident evil, or co-op gameplay for the most part, although we did enjoy HoD: overkill. How about other non shooters?

Non-shooters?  Do you like sports titles?  NBA 2K11 is actually pretty good, I play that with my friend.  Then there's FIFA..., Sports Champions.

There are some good ones from PSN too, like Super Stardust HD, or Pixeljunk Shooter (not a FPS).

LittleBigPlanet is basically co-op, but a different kind of co-op game, IMO.

Pixel Junk games are fantastic for local multiplayer. We spent many hours playing Monsters and also Shooter. (Sequel out soon I believe)

Gran Turismo 5- only if you like racing sims, not to be confused with arcade racing
Dead Nation- It may be co-op, but it's bloody fun. (top down? zombie shooter)
Sword & Soldiers- Fun PSN game best played with Move (rts)
Borderlands- Great co-op game. It has a "pvp" arena as well. Just over-all probably the best split screen fps game I've played to date.
Unreal Tournament 3- Still my favorite competitive fps to date.
Super Street Fighter 4- My personal favorite fighting game
Marvel vs Capcom 2- More variety then SSF4
Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes- Super fun co-op game (non-competitive though). In the style of Dynasty Warriors.
Rainbow Six Vegas 1&2- No trophies but awesome game.
DanceDanceRevolution- Super fun dance game (if you're into that stuff)

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is a great old-school beat-em-up.

4 Players - Little big planet 2, Monopoly, risk factions, castle crashers

2 players - Resident evil 5, Unreal tournament 3, lord of the rings conquest, Gunstar Heroes, Call of duty black ops (nazi zombies and bots)

if your going online i would also add Warhawk to the list, as 4 player split screen is supported there is just no offline component to the game.
