I was wondering about some survival horror games. How are the F.E.A.R. games, would it be better to start with one or skip to two? I already have Dead space and will get 2 later this year, have extraction on my Wii. I've got plenty of resident evil on my Wii and I'm waiting happily for silent hill downpour. One other thing, any move ideas for a survival horror games?
I wouldn't even consider FEAR or Dead Space survival Horror. They're pretty much straight shooters with some scary segments. As for some good ones, I'm not really in the know, but I hear Silent Hill is pretty good. There's also Deadly Premonition, which I hear is frightening although it's not without its issues. Then there's Clock Tower 3. I've seen some lets plays of it, and it looks great. What Systems have you got?
As for FEAR, if you're still interested, FEAR 1 is scarier while FEAR 2 has better shooting segments. I'd say get both in order, or even skip the second, it relies too much on cheap scares.
I have Wii, DS, PS3. I like shattered memories, and silent hill one was just old by the time I played it. The dementium games are good, just to short. I get that FEAR and dead space are heavy on their shooting elements, but shattered memories is the only horror game with no combat that comes to mind.

How good's your PC? I know some terrifying ones there.
Silent Hill #1 tops best horror game lists on a regular basis. and theres a good reason, its really really good, and really really scary. Its available to download for $5.99 on the North American Playstation Store. and because its a ps1 game it of course also supports playback on both PS3 and PSP. Other then that I'd say you download the Real Resident Evil games also on PSN and at the time being I think one of them is half price ($2.99). and Last if you want some Prehistoric scares Dino Crisis is always fun to play...and watch(when you die).
Resident evil 2 is at 2.99 @lipnox .... good catch! Te first resident evil tho, for me is something that really capture my attention. If you're not one of those people that can't enjoy a game that's not pretty (ps3 standard) dont download but everyone else, it's amazing.
A little sidenote i miss that sort of intro, the PS1 had lots of real people/actors intro a la resident evil in the field at the beginning. a those were the days...
Remember when we played NBA live 96 and couldnt believe how real it all was????
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is the best horror game I've played. The Wii version is very good, but there are also ports to the PS2 and PSP. I also liked Amnesia, available both for Mac and PC at Steam. Then, there is always Silent Hill 2 (PS2) and Eternal Darkness (Gamecube). There isn't much available for the PS3. Dead Space is more like Resident Evil, an action game with horror elements. Still, it is a good game.
P.S.: I found F.E.A.R. to be rather weak. Anyway, it is a shooter with a few horror elements.
@Monteblanco resident evil has only been an action game this generation and late last generation. resident evil 1-3, code veronica, and the online only outbreak games were all slow paced like silent hill.
I would like to add Fallout New Vegas: Dead Money was pretty amazing, and for it me it nailed the survival horror feel as the developers intended. Even though Its just DLC, its very well worth checking out if you like survival horror. It surprised me. I found the f.e.a.r franchise pretty decent too.
