Topic: The stock HDMI cable good enough?

I have a PS5 connected to my 4K 120hz VRR TV with the HDMI 2.1 cable that comes standard with the console. The thing is, even though my TV supports VRR and has 120hz native refresh rate, when I check my "Current Video Output Signal" it still says "3840x2160 60hz". Could it be because of the standard cable?

@jaemohyun0618 The HDMI cable supplied with the PS5 from 'new' should be capable of 120hz - can't say for sure that you get the correct cable if buying used. You may need to go into your Settings on both the TV and/or PS5 to ensure that they are both set up correctly to enable 120hz. Some TV's for example may need you turn on that function on the specific HDMI port to enable the console to output at 120hz. Some TV's too may only have 1-2 HDMI 2.1 ports for 120hz - after all, its only a few devices able to offer 4k/120 content right now.

The cable should be OK so I would check your TV's settings and specs - check you are plugging the cable in the 'correct' HDMI port and/or that you have enabled it to receive 4k/120hz. Once you are sure the TV is set-up, then check the Console settings, check that you can switch it to 120hz because by 'default', it maybe set to 60hz output. If you have checked your TV and Console, ensured that everything is set up correctly etc, then maybe the cable will need replacing but its 'unlikely'.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

I've been using the stock cable and getting 120hz and VRR at 4K with my LG TV no problem.
Also, the PS5 doesn't always use the 120Hz mode - it will switch to it when a game uses it (in my case it goes blank for about a second when switching modes so it's quite noticeable).
Make sure you have it enabled in PS5's settings too.

@jaemohyun0618 I think that sounds right - although if you were buying a Cable, I'd say make sure it is Ultra High Speed Cable.

I don't have 120hz VRR enabled display - my 4k TV is a few years older but even that had to be 'set-up' to allow UHD HDR content, turn the HDMI ports 'on' to accept that signal otherwise the console won't see its capable of receiving a 4k HDR signal. Also a lot of TV's may have 3 or 4 HDMI ports but only 1-2 are actually HDMI 2.1 ports, the others are only HDMI 2.0 ports so again its important to check that you are using the correct HDMI port on your TV and that 'port' is set-up up for Gaming, for VRR etc.

If you have checked and double checked, making sure you have connected to the right HDMI port and set that port up correctly, the 'next' thing you should check is the PS5 settings themselves. If the TV is correctly set-up, you should have the option in the menu to enable 120hz

I'm not sure if you have to set the Games to automatically choose 'performance' modes.

My TV is LG's 55-inch QNED85. I have my PS5 connected to the HDMI 3 port, which supports both 4K 120hz and eARC. Also, I have switched my PS5's game presets to performance mode. I think that should do it.
