Topic: Should my DS4 controller be making clicking sounds?

My brand new DS4 controller is 3 weeks old, but it’s been making these weird clicking sounds from the start. Are these sounds normal? Some people said that I need to break it in, but I’ve been using it pretty regularly for the last 3 weeks. Is this an issue? How should I fix this issue if it is one? Thanks!

That shouldn't happen. I just took out my most recent DualShock 4 (one of the first V2's) and it makes absolutely no clicking sound at all, it doesn't even sound like there is anything that could make it click.

Both my DualSense's though have a click. I never really notice it, but it is there. I think something changed about the analog sticks in the last few years. And maybe they made the same changes to recent DS4's.

(Also, holding it made me realize how great the Dualshock 4 still feels to this day. Such a brilliant controller!)

Mine make a clicking sound when pushing in the thumbsticks as L3 & R3, but apart from that no clicking and wouldn't expect any?

@Kidfried I see that makes sense. I also have a DS4 V2, so it makes sense that I should not be having that issue. I guess I’ll return it and see if it’s a problem with my new controller and if it’s a problem with all new controllers in general. The DS4 is definitely really comfortable. I’m very happy with it aside from this clicking issue.

@Panic_Attache Oh okay so that shouldn’t be happening. I’ll go ahead and return the controller then. Hopefully it’s not an issue with my new controller as well.
