Hi,

Thanks in advance for any help.

@Max_Headroom does the monitor have a line out/headphone out port that you can plug your speakers into?

No, my old monitor had a line out and it worked perfectly with PS4 this one doesn't have speakers, line out or headphone connection all it has is a HDMI and VGA.

@Max_Headroom ok, you might be able to get a device called a HDMI Audio Extractor then.

But I suspect the drawback will be that it won't support every feature of the PS5. I.e. simultaneous 4K & 120Hz.

I don't know a lot about these devices but I had a quick look on Amazon and the cheaper devices seem to support 4K@60Hz for example.

But even then, there are probably features like VRR and HDR that aren't mentioned by the product descriptions.

You'll have to do the research on the devices yourself and see if you can find one that supports everything the PS5 can do. Look up the PS5s HDMI spec and find an audio extractor that supports it, that said you may still find mixed results in practice. If the device doesn't have a built in male HDMI connector then you will also need a HDMI lead which is the same spec as the one that came with the PS5 to connect it to your monitor (I can't remember if it's HDMI 2.2 or 2.1 to be honest, so you'll have to check that too)

Alternately, your monitor may already not supported everything the PS5 is capable of so perhaps a cheaper Audio Extractor will still support everything that your monitor is capable of.

I wonder if any other forumites can chip in on this? I'm not amazingly familiar with all of the PS5s capabilities and whether there is a settings page that tells you exactly what your display is capable of

Thanks Ralph i will stick to using the controller to power the speakers for now and buy a decent 4K monitor with speakers when i have the funds.
