So I've created this topic to see if this is an issue that's affected anyone else recently as I cannot see any 'new' articles on the subject.
I have owned my PS5 since launch and it has been in daily use since .
My PS5 controller for no obvious reason is no longer responding at all. It pairs and activates the PS5 but then I receive an error message saying Wireless Controller disconnected and in the few times I have got into my profile the controller is no longer retaining any charge.
I have tried every single troubleshooting step (front/back USB port), different device cables, trying to charge it on another product and the controller fails to respond or show any signs of taking charge which leads me to believe my controller battery is defective or has lost the ability to retain the battery charge...
The only thing I think might have accelerated this is I normally play with the controller via USB cable rather than Bluetooth but this should be okay as never had this problem on PS4?
The charging cable and PS5 do not appear to be at fault as my second controller is working perfectly fine.
Has anyone any ideas how I can possibly get the dead controller to start charging whilst I try to get through to PlayStation for a replacement as if I can find a workaround I would rather do this than have to await a replacement/send it back.
@RogerRoger - thanks, I was pretty sure it's a faulty battery.
Trying to get through to customer service though to see about sending it back is proving time consuming however so I think I will just use the second controller for the time being.
Well just a little update on this but thanks to the 'Official' Dual Sense charging station finally appearing on the market again I have got myself one and now both my controllers are charging correctly again.
I am convinced the issue is with the USB connection in the console as my keyboard is 'disconnecting' frequently when I have it plugged in, I may have a go at replacing the USB or cleaning it to see if that resolves the problem fully but at least I have not had to send anything back to Sony which is good.
