Topic: My DualShock 4 is stuck on the yellow charging light.

My DualShock for is stuck on a yellow charging light after I set everything to default. It’s not pairing to my ps4. I tried EVERYTHING. I tried every usb wire in my house but nothing would work. I watched YouTube videos on how to fix this but they wouldn’t work. Any solutions?

@Kredient Unfortunately, it sounds like your controller is faulty. If you've tried all of those solutions, your only remaining course of action would appear to be buying a replacement.

@RogerRoger I also tried my second controller it seems it doesn’t work either. It worked perfectly fine before. I bought the magma red controller in 2019.

@Kredient Ah, that is new information. If you've got multiple controllers not registering, then the common fault might be with the PS4 itself.

For which I've got nothing, sorry. Try contacting Sony's tech support?

@Kredient Try holding down the power button on the PS4 when you turn it on and doing the 'rebuilding the database' thing

Google 'rebuild ps4 database' if you're stuck

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

Ugh. I had this ps4 for a long time. It’s the first version. I did have these problems before but I fixed it. But this isn’t solving.

@Kredient Sorry to hear Sony didn't pick up. Perhaps try them again at a better time. As you say, however, it's an old console with prior issues, so this might simply be its time.

If you haven't already, do try rebuilding the database as @Gremio108 suggested. I didn't think of that.

@RogerRoger is it possible to do it without the controller? If so, how?

Kredient

RogerRoger

@Kredient Hmm. Probably not, but if there's anywhere your controllers will register, it'll be in the Safe Mode menu whilst physically connected.

Don't forget that there's a USB port on the back of your PS4. If the front ones aren't working, try the back.

@Kredient My mistake; there's only a third USB on the rear of a PS4 Pro, and you earlier said that your console was a launch model. Apologies. Didn't mean to get your hopes up.

It’s alright. Ugh. I can’t afford to replace my ps4.

@Kredient Right, sorry, didn't realise both your controllers were on the fritz. You could try and borrow a controller from someone, although that might not work either. You could get a USB keyboard from somewhere and take it back for a refund/exchange when the job is done, but then you risk being stuck with a broken PS4 and a keyboard you didn't need

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

Thanks for all the help guys. I might try to take it to the geeks at Best Buy. I am not sure.

RogerRoger

@Kredient Actually, yeah, if you know a local repair shop then that might be cheaper. If you can't get the console working at all, then it's certainly worth the risk, before you're forced to start saving for a full replacement. I hope it works out for you.

@RogerRoger I have a question do I need a specific usb cable to pair my controller? Such as a data cable.

Kredient

RogerRoger

@Kredient I'd always recommend using the cable provided with the console and / or controller itself, as that's guaranteed to work. There are standard types of USB cable that should work, but others might not and, frankly, it's a bit of a lottery at times. If you've misplaced your original, then I'm sure you can order a replacement online, probably rather cheaply if you look around.

@Kredient That's an officially licenced PlayStation product, so I'd say yes, you can.
