Topic: Having to intialise PS4 after my electric cuts out

I've been experiencing a unusual and a really painful issue with my PS4 pro over the last few months

Over last few months. If I'm on my PS4 and the electric cuts out (ran out on the meter) when I turn PS4 on it goes into safe mode and gotta upload the latest system update (Currently 7.50) eventhough I keeps my PS4 up to date. Then I gotta intialise my PS4 which is pain as 2tb of games and saves takes hours to download. Even with fast internet

Does anyone know why this is as before it just does the safe mode scan then restarts with nonissue

Can't seem to find a way around it

@NGR_EnvoyXtreme either could happen with a power outage, you can get "lucky" and just have to scan or rebuild database or unlucky and have to reinstall everything.

I know it seems obvious but it's not good for the PS4 to let the power cut so in this situation I would probably keep an eye on the meter or make sure the PS4 turned off (not in rest mode) when not in use

@kyleforrester87 that's a good shout actually, I installed them under desks in an office a while back. Aparrently they can run a computer and a monitor for around 30 mins after a power cut, that's word of mouth though so don't hold me to it

@ralphdibny yeah, I’m not too fussed about incorrectly shutting my PS4 etc down occasionally but if I had frequent power cuts I’d have to go for something like that. Gives you time to shut it down properly if you lose mains power at least.

That said the OP might just want to get the prepayment meter swapped out by his power company!

@kyleforrester87 yeah it does happen occasionally. I've certainly unplugged it prematurely, had a power outage or even had the meter go when I'm at the other halfs flat. I'm quite wary of it now tho. Tbf I used to shut it down all the time, only used rest mode recently since I got a second hand vita for remote play

See ya!
