January might have felt like a bit of a slow start to 2026, but February ended up being the exact opposite.
This was a busy month for new releases, and a good number of them are what we'd deem very high profile. In other words, there's going to be a battle for February's official Game of the Month award.
There was something for just about everyone last month. Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined offered up quality JRPG nostalgia, Nioh 3 brought brutal but addictive open-zone action to the party, and God of War: Sons of Sparta placed a new spin on a classic franchise.
We also had the insanity of Romeo Is a Dead Man, the downright silliness of High on Life 2, and the adventure of former Xbox console exclusive Avowed. That's real variety right there.
And we haven't even mentioned the obvious headline act that was the excellent Resident Evil Requiem. Talk about a strong end to the month!
But before we get into the all-important voting process, let's quickly recap our Game of the Month winners for 2026 so far (and yes, we know there's only one of them at this point):
- January 2026: Trails beyond the Horizon
Now then, what was your Game of the Month for February 2026? Think carefully, cast your vote, and then try to explain yourself in the comments section below.
Voting closes on Monday the 9th March 2026, at 00:00 GMT.

Resident Evil Requiem and it's not even close. Even though I am not over the moon so far, it's what want in AAA blockbusters. Grace's survival horror section is so much fun though.
I'm pretty sure that for many people RE9 is a March game. I voted for Nioh 3.
I went with Romeo Is a Dead Man. Very fun and quirky game. Certainly won’t be for everyone, but I had a blast with it and the game was such a memorable experience.
Had to go with DQ7. RE9 is certainly pretty great as it is; the problem is it assuredly won’t remain as it is.
Capcom has a history of grafting on extraneous modes and unnecessary DLC’s, some of which don’t even have anything to do with the core gameplay experience (the reason you’d buy resident evil in the first place). 4 had that mercenaries mode where you run around in circles doing nothing, 2 had that god awful wave survival crap and that tedious “4th survivor” scenario, 7 had that trash blackjack dlc, 8 doubled down on that mercenaries slop etc. Not a good track record and I expect more of the same for 9.
Reanimal Demo
I'd have given it to Nioh 3 but Resident Evil is too good.
Resident evil requiem and nioh 3😁 but Resident evil requiem is definitely getting it.word up son
First of all, what a month. Don't think I've seen a February that stacked for great games before.
My vote is going towards Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, such a charming and great game and a contender for best RPG of the year already.
Resident Evil Requiem, which is now my favourite new (non remake) entry since the original RE4 back on Gamecube and in my top 5 of the series
It’s not often that a non-exclusive wins when there is also an exclusive. Thankfully, quality wins.
Avowed by default, but I'm yet to play DQ7R (loved the demo) or Romeo as the other 2 games I would have bought last month.
Going for the only one I have played which is Nioh 3. I love the Nioh games and this one didn’t disappoint.
Requiem is so far beyond all the others, it’s not even funny. Requiem’s winning this one with the biggest landslide we’ve yet seen in these polls, I’m sure.
That said, I really want to give Romeo a shot too, even with the reviews being all over the place.
@Balaam_ ye but as of the late the RE games been released are direct to story, compared to like DQ7 Which is what like 75 hour plus platinum of mindless grinding and as you would say " slop" adds zero to the story seves only as padding,
Numbers wise and popularity wise RE9 leaves every other game in this list in the dust, alot of people dont think about what capcom might do later...enjoy the game for what it is now..which is an absolute banger
Simples RE9 definitely
Nioh 3 was so good!
Hard toss up between Nioh 3 and Requiem for me but voted Nioh 3. I just don’t have enough of a grasp on I how I feel about Requiem yet. Highly polished though!
RE9 for sure! Finally finished my insanity playthrough and got the platinum today
My vote goes to DQ7R
This is tough! I got the platinum for NiOh 3, so obviously I loved it; but RE9 is so damn good.
1. Resident Evil: Requiem
2. Romeo is a Dead Man
3. Tokyo Xtreme Racer
@Fluberuper
Yeah, great game, Suda 51 and Grasshopper at their craziest. The gameplay is janky but fun, story is completely ridiculous. Might be recency bias but I think it might be my new favorite game from that team topping the original No More Heroes.
if it werent for RE9 my vote would have gone to Nioh 3.
Nioh 3 for me. Still haven't played any of the others that I want to play tho but I know none of them are gonna top nioh anyway. What a month
Dragon quest was great really enjoyed it, but the total spectacle of resident evil 9 has my vote
