Where does the time go? We're just days away from the beginning of September, if you can believe it, and that can only mean one thing: new PS Plus Essential games to (hopefully) look forward to.
At a glance, I think next month's lineup has something for everyone. We've got an historically-grounded shooter, a sports sim, an indie RPG, and a quirky sandbox offering that you can play with your mates.
Oxford-based developer Rebellion continued its consistently solid Sniper Elite series with Sniper Elite: Resistance back in 2025, and it's yet another entry that's hard to fault. The actual sniping still feels great, and the level design's pretty good throughout.
Next up, MLB The Show 26 is... well, it's more MLB The Show, and to say otherwise would be disingenuous. However, the reviews weren't great for this instalment, and fans have been very critical of the changes it makes to established game modes.
Obviously worth a shot if you're a baseball fan, but it might be best to keep your expectations in check.
Then there's Chained Echoes, which I'd personally recommend to anyone looking for a heartfelt RPG that's clearly inspired by the Japanese classics. It's a turn-based, story-heavy adventure full of cool characters.
And finally, we've got Wobbly Life — and I'd strongly advise against writing this one off based on surface-level impressions.
Wobbly Life is actually a life sim-style outing, set in a wacky sandbox world. You're tasked with stumbling out into said world and finding a job, and you can play through the whole thing with up to three other players, either locally or online. Definitely one to try with the kids if you're looking for something lighthearted.
