Review Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (PS5) - A Fiery Return That REVs in the Right Places
Wolf whistle
SNK, once on the brink of bankruptcy, is back with a marketing budget that would make genre titans Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat blush. With Saudi Arabia’s untold riches powering it, the push behind niche 90s fighter revival Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been unprecedented, adorning London buses and New York boxing rings...
Review SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos (PS4) – A Barebones Port of an Arcade Curiosity
We have Capcom vs SNK at home
Capcom has always had a bit of an uneven relationship with its partners when it comes to crossover fighting games. We got Street Fighter X Tekken, but Tekken never returned the favour; plus, Marvel and Tatsunoko aren’t game developers, so there was obviously no return trip there. Naturally, we’re leading up to say...
Review King of Fighters XV (PS5) - Rock Solid Brawler Is Better than XIV, But Still Struggles to Wow
Expectations met
There's a lot to like about King of Fighters XV if you're a fan of the genre. Deep, technical gameplay. A large and fairly interesting character roster. All-important rollback netcode, which allows for mostly smooth online matches. All of the ingredients are here, but the finished product still lacks a certain edge — the kind of...
Review Samurai Shodown - SNK Delivers the PS4's Most Gripping Fighting Game
Blink and you'll miss it
Two masters of the sword stand face to face in a field, blades unsheathed and eyes unblinking. A blood red moon hangs in the air, and the silence is deadly. The tension is palpable, and as you feel that bead of sweat slowly trickle down the side of your head, you decide to make your move. With one quick step, you go for the...
Review SNK 40th Anniversary Collection - Four Decades Young
A delicious selection box of ancient gems and curios
Have you ever played a game from your youth, ready to relive those glory days with rose-tinted glasses firmly in place? Ever rip those rosy specs off and throw them against the wall in a fit of rage shortly after? Some retro "classics" just don’t stand the test of time and others are designed...
Review The King of Fighters XIV (PS4)
Royal ruckus
While Capcom is rightly credited as the company which kick-started interest in the one-on-one fighting genre, there's another firm which built up comparable reputation in the field and – some would passionately argue – actually managed to trump the creator of Street Fighter on more than one occasion. SNK would become a household...

News SNK, We Really Need to Talk About Art of Fighting 3 and the NEO GEO Premium Selection
Steamin' mad
I know port begging is broadly frowned upon and for good reason, but when it comes to game preservation perhaps we should make an exception? Oh, who am I kidding – I just want to rant about The Path of the Warrior: Art of Fighting 3 R which is the latest addition to SNK’s NEO GEO Premium Selection. Like the other games in this...

Tekken the p*ss
When Katsuhiro Harada — commonly referred to the godfather of Tekken — announced his departure from Bandai Namco late last year, we were left wondering whether he'd remain in gaming. As it turns out, the answer to that question is a resounding 'yes'. Harada's gone on to establish a new development outfit named VS Studio — and...

Okay, so this was teased late...
News Some Fans Think Fatal Fury PS5, PS4 Is Delivering Better Street Fighter Content Than SF6
And it's all free
If there’s one criticism of Street Fighter 6, which is an outstanding game, it’s that post-release content has been fairly slow to roll out. To be fair, the Capcom fighter has some pretty impressive production values, which makes adding things like new stages and costumes pretty time consuming. But it doesn’t look good when...
Season 2 starts 22nd January
We’re not entirely sure whether SNK intended for this information to be published now, but six more characters will join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves through June – with two mysterious additions touted. We already know one of those unannounced fighters is likely to be Kenshiro from First of the North Star...

News Fatal Fury PS5, PS4 Will Return with a Second Season of DLC Fighters
Next up?
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves clearly didn’t sell anywhere near as well as SNK perhaps hoped after it plastered the fighter everywhere. But it looks like it’s done enough for a second season of DLC. While there are no details just yet aside from the fact that it’s happening, the legendary Japanese developer proudly flaunted the news...
