LittleBigPlanet Vita Developers Double Eleven Will Work Exclusively On Sony Platforms For The Foreseeable Future.

The British studio (comprised of former Rockstar Leeds employees) will develop titles exclusively for PlayStation platforms going forward.

The firm is currently hard at work on LittleBigPlanet Vita, but will move onto new titles for various Sony platforms in the future.

“Double Eleven are one of the most exciting developers to emerge onto the development scene in recent years, their technical expertise makes them a great fit for LittleBigPlanet on PSVita and we’ve very pleased with the progress the team have made on this hugely anticipated title,” explained Michael Denny, Senior Vice President, SCE Worldwide Studios Europe.

“For us to become strong partners with Sony at such a crucial stage in our own development underlines the unswerving commitment we have made to the quality of our production," said Lee Hutchinson, CEO at Double Eleven.

"It is a testament to the hard work of all the exceptional team here at Double Eleven and we’re delighted that this agreement will help our company grow and flourish, working on prestigious titles, on leading-edge platforms. The opportunity to work so closely with Sony is simply fantastic and we look forward to a truly exciting new phase in our own development, with the absolute intention to become a world-class studio.”

LittleBigPlanet Vita landed a slew of award nominations after being demonstrated at this year's E3, with a number of high-profile journalists suggesting LittleBigPlanet may have found its natural home on PlayStation Vita. The game makes use of the handheld's variety of input options to craft a unique experience grounded in the whimsical visual style LittleBigPlanet is famous for.

While the terms of the deal are a bit vague at the moment, we suspect Double Eleven might make a name for itself as one of Vita's premium developers going forward. Certainly Sony would not entrust the studio with a property as big as LittleBigPlanet if it didn't have faith in the team's talent.
