There are two Sonic the Hedgehog video games arriving this year. One of them looks good, and the other one is Sonic Frontiers — but you can view the gameplay and judge for yourself. Anyway, at least Sonic Origins is just around the corner, and this retro collection is looking pretty great.

A new trailer, embedded above, goes over the game's features and modes. In case you don't know, Origins gathers up Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles, and CD into one place and embellishes them with various fancy extras. Firstly, all the games are playable in widescreen with the Anniversary mode, which also provides endless lives as well as Sonic Mania's Drop Dash move. You can play them all in their original 4:3 aspect ratio too with Classic mode, presenting the games as they were back in the day with limited lives. You'll be able to play as Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles in each game, too.

On top of that, Origins will feature several brand new animations, some of which can be seen throughout the above trailer. A Museum mode houses unlockable memorabilia such as artwork, music, and cinematics, while the Missions are bespoke little challenges for mega fans to conquer.

We're quite looking forward to revisiting these classics, and release is just around the corner. Sonic Origins hits PS5 and PS4 on 23rd June.
