Samurai Warriors 5 will receive a playable PlayStation 4 demo next week, on the 20th July (that's seven days from its actual release). The demo will include two stages from main character Nobunaga Oda's storyline, and you'll be able to try out five different fighters: Nobunaga, Hideyoshi Hashiba, Nō, Ieyasu Tokugawa, and Toshiie Maeda.
All of these characters wield different weapons, so they should give you a decent idea of how combat works across the game. What's more, your save data from the demo can be carried over to the full release, which is always nice.
We've actually been playing Samurai Warriors 5 for a couple of weeks now, thanks to the Japanese version of the game — and we've really enjoyed our time with it. You can read all about it in our Samurai Warriors 5 hands on preview.
Will you be charging into battle with this demo? Keep your blade sharp in the comments section below.

I certainly will. In fact, I’m starting to get the itch to preorder it after seeing positive coverage of the Japanese release, here and elsewhere . Also, I’ve no qualms about the truncated character list given that the game is shifting focus to an earlier slice of history.
will def play the demo!
once SW came out, it immediately took DW off the top of the list. SW is the better of the two Musou games. if it plays anything like One Piece Pirate Warriors 4, then it's def gonna be a blast (but i'm sure it'll be a blast regardless).
Looking forward to some more Warriors schlock!
I love the look really dissapointed about the roster almost none of my favorite characters are in there. Im probably gonna wait for the XL version im missing Kai, Nene, Kunoichi, Aya and Naotora Li and Ina she is a awsome character.
@Amnesiac Thats probably why a lot of my favorites are gone. As long as they dont do the **** move of dropping them as DLC. Then im really gonna wait for the XL version. I have seen the stories quite enough the new characters are the things that make me buy it or not.
@Flaming_Kaiser Yeah, Nene and Naotora Ii are two of my favorites as well, but I'm guessing that focusing on the beginning of the Sengoku period means that a lot of characters aren't around yet. That's a bit of a bummer, but it's the new scenarios that have me interested. As much as I love the series, it feels like I've played through the battle of Sekigahara in every possible way and I'm ready to try out a few new battles.
@Amnesiac Maybe we will get some other games with the younger characters. But i agree just like with Dynasty Warriors how many times do i want to play the same battles. I would love to see some smaller stories and battles with the standard big names. Even with Orochi they reuse their maps way to much. Just watched Ragnarok on Netflix with Lu Bu man its awsome.
