PlayStation VR has been going strong for a few of years now, and it’s amassed a surprisingly impressive selection of software in that time. Of course, with new fans entering the virtual reality realm for the first time every single day, we figured that we’d compile a list of the best PSVR games to date. These are all must have experiences, and they span the headset’s full spectrum of software, from epic blockbusters right the way through to smaller indie adventures.
25. Headmaster (PS4)
Clever use of PSVR’s capabilities makes Headmaster an enjoyable arcade game. You’re an out of form Premier League striker, and you’ve been sent to heading school to rediscover your best. A series of Portal-esque trials await, and you must use your bonce to complete every one of them. Inventive from beginning to end, this hands-free release really makes use of virtual reality’s unique quirks.
Sony’s most malleable franchise No Heroes Allowed! makes for an entertaining – albeit simplistic – tabletop strategy game. In this cute and colourful tower defence title, your task is to spawn evil minions in order to off gallant heroes who have the gall to impede your nefarious reign. It’s short and fairly straightforward, but it looks and plays great on PSVR.
23. Tiny Trax (PS4)
Brighton-based developer FuturLab knows how to make a great feeling game, and Tiny Trax’s Scalextric-inspired slot racing is no exception. The game sees you seated stationary in the centre of some increasingly complicated tracks, and it’s up to you to follow the direction of your vehicle, as it skids and slides around hairpin bends. A clever drift mechanic adds depth to an otherwise simplistic affair, and while it’s relatively light on content, mastering its courses will require practice and precision.
Comfortably the best online shooter for PSVR, Firewall Zero Hour wears its Rainbow Six: Siege influences on its urban camo sleeve – but while its tense tactical gameplay may be familiar, its use of the PSVR Aim Controller makes it a much more personal experience. The game would benefit from longer matches and there’s always room for more maps, but assuming it can establish a strong community, it’ll have you checking your corners in virtual reality for months to come.

Maybe not the most obvious addition, but 2MD VR Football’s arcade quarterback action really works well with PSVR. The throwing mechanic is outrageously accurate, allowing you to hoof Hail Marys downfield like you’re Aaron Rodgers after he’s eaten his Weetabix. The arcade format means that the novelty does have a shelf-life, but the fact that you can even create your own plays makes this a worthy inclusion on our list.
