Bomba averted: Uncharted 3 has posted some staggering first-day sales figures.

Sony's just announced that Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception sold 3.8 million units in just one day globally. The numbers were sent out by SCEE in a brief press release that noted the title is "on course to be the biggest selling game in the trilogy".

As always with Sony numbers, a few forum posters are pondering whether the numbers are shipped to retailers or sold to consumers. While Sony didn't specify, it's worthless damage control. Even if the numbers are shipped, retailers aren't idiots and don't buy hundreds of copies of unpopular games to sit on store shelves. It's a non-issue.

What's not a non-issue is what these numbers mean for Naughty Dog going forward. We imagine they have to be preparing to start work on Uncharted 4 for the next PlayStation, right?
