The PlayStation 3's Finally King Of The Home Consoles In Japan.

After this week's MediaCreate report the PlayStation 3 had moved 1,017,094 units for the year-to-date, while the Wii's managed just 1,015,513.

It actually puts the Nintendo Wii in a shaky position, as the XBOX 360 is poised to better its yearly hardware tally in the US. In reality, Nintendo's box could end up second to competitors in two key regions this year, suggesting the platform is beginning to tail off, while the PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360 continue to gather steam.

Of course, that's not to say Nintendo won't counter these developments at some point in the coming months
