Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime Continues To Act Rattled Regarding Playstation Move, Reckons No One With A Wii Would Buy

Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime Still Appears Significantly Bitter Regarding Playstation Move.

The more Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime comes out to talk down the Playstation Move, the more we reckon Nintendo are rattled. What’s that Reggie — you heard that there’s a system going to be offering significantly better motion controls, alongside blu-ray, video delivery, and HD graphics? Oh.

“So I’m a consumer and I’m having a great experience with my Wii. And we know that’s the case – we look at the software that’s being purchased. Consumers love the Wii. What’s going to motivate them to spend minimally $300 for a new [PS3] system, plus minimally $100 for the Move motion bundle?

“So [as a consumer] now I’m into this for $400 and I still have to spend money on software. What’s going to motivate me to do that?”

We can see his point, but it’s presumably software and the uptake in high-definition – and specificially blu-ray – that’s going to drive users to the PS3, Reggie. At least, we assume that’s what Sony are banking on.

There is indeed supposed to be a console bundle which comes with the PlayStation Eye and the Move controller.
Just had a brilliant idea too.
If Sony put out a PS3 bundle with those items for say... $300? The same price as buying a non bundled PS3... I bet that would get a hell of a lot of people to jump onto the Move bandwagon. Hell, they would be stupid not to. Would really help push the hardware and any software supporting it.
Sony is used to selling the PS3 at a loss, and now that they are making a little they could afford to drop a little again, and it would really push this new tech.
I'm not a marketing expert, but it seems like a good idea to me. At least make it only $25-50 more than just buying a PS3 by itself, bundle a game, and I'm sure it will sell a lot.
I'll already be willing to buy the Eye + Move at say $75, so long as I see some good software at E3, and that's on top of the $500 I paid for my 80GB back when.

Isn't there a console bundle that comes with the PS3 and Move and Eye.

The best thing for Nintendo to do would be to say nothing until we see how well - or not - Move performs when it's released. Everything they're saying about it at the moment does, indeed, make it seem like they're rattled.

His comments seem like they're the little kids in the playground; they've had it all to themselves, but now they're worried that the big boys are coming to kick them off the swings.
  • I´m a ex owner of a Wii and there were only a very few games that make me interested on the Wii for example: Boom Blox, Zack & Wiki, Metroid Prime 3, Twilight Princess, No More Heroes and MadWorld.
I know many people that has an Wii and is collecting dust right now.
All i can wish is that Sony can control the shovelwares so the PS3 doesn´t become the next Wii and EA can bring Boom Blox to the PS3 =)
