Re: Grand Theft Auto V PS4's Launch Patch Will Steal a Load of Your Bandwidth

Coming from the software industry, I think there is a lot of confusion about day 1 patches and developers kicking out software too early. I think what a lot of people don't realize is that software has to be locked down weeks or months in advance in order to get into production. Some of these console manufactures won't let you sneak in last minute updates that would make the overall user experience better. Sure, maybe developers could wait a little longer, but that would mean delaying releases and possibly holding up future releases, etc. Another thing to consider is that many of the games today position themselves in the "entertainment" industry, not the software "quality assurance" industry. The longer you have QA look at a release, the more bugs they will find and with the complexity of the newer games, it gets harder and harder. In the case of GTA V for PS4, you guys aren't getting a day 0 patch, you are actually getting a -2 day patch. My hats off to people like Rockstar, because this is a delicate balance... no matter which way they go, they will get criticism.
