@Perturbator You are wrong. PlayStation is still full steam ahead making live service games. They are just trying to better execute their plan. They have identified specific studios under them for live service games, and it appears they expect to deliver one live service game per year.
@theSpectre This is false. The developers were charged with making a game, and they made a poor game. Every developer on a team isn’t always happy or overly enthusiastic about the project they are working on, but they are still required to make a good working game. Stop making excuses
This is an ENTIRE site of comments of PlayStation fans who have been living in complete and utter delusion about PlayStation financially, and about what matters to PlayStation’s success. This is not the fault of live service games, this is the fault of Jim Ryan’s approach to pivoting to live service games. PlayStation ABSOLUTELY needs live service games to grow revenue and to maintain sustainable profits. Jim Ryan was fired (asked to leave) because he bungled the execution. But currently PlayStation total revenue is 40% driven by their live service games, and they don’t have many. This is why so many you sound so stupid when talking about Xbox, when PlayStation is literally COPYING their strategy (not exactly but mostly where they can). This is not the end of the world, but you PlayStation gamers better understand your future is: ONE TENTPOLE game per year, ONE live service game per year, ONE small game per year, and MLB the show. THAT IS YOUR FUTURE when it comes to 1st party.
