@TimeDelayedGamer "This law is needlessly authoritarian and intrusive, won't work, is likely to make the thing being controlled more attractive not less, and has scope to be misused by the government further down the line depending on what they decide deserves to be 'age restricted'".

Once upon a time, I would consider this as tin foil hat wearing type thinking. Considering things recently I now happily sit here wearing my new shiny hat. 😁

"Government overreach is no substitute for good parenting."
Couldn't agree more. 🙂

That's only in a trial phase right now and as you say. is simply to check whether people are being wrongly identified as children rather than any criminal past. They are still going to run into the same problems they did back in 2022 though, both from a technological point and from campaign groups. Lets face it though, even us humans have problems guessing peoples age sometimes so not sure what hope AI has in its current form.
At least we have Norman Reedus for now though. 🤣

They absolutely don't get their faces scanned when they enter the UK, it was deemed unethical not to mention unreliable. Also, if Europe had any information on the people travelling to the UK illegally (which almost exclusively they don't) the UK has no access to any of the actual criminal databases such as Shengen or Europol due to Brexit.
