Latest Reviews of PlayStation Mobile Games
Buck up
There's no doubt about it: Oh, Deer!'s got ample game – just not necessarily the right kind. NecroSoft's last hurrah for Sony's ill-fated PlayStation Mobile initiative epitomises everything that the programme should have stood for: it's accessible, affordable, and utterly outlandish. And yet despite all of that, it's more of a proof of...
Review Tokyo Jungle Mobile (PlayStation Mobile)
Beast wars
You might be kidded into thinking that there'd be some modicum of peace on Earth if the human race, along with its wide range of squabbles and skirmishes, evaporated one day. The Tokyo Jungle series disagrees. After society collapses, humans go bye-bye and cities become overgrown concrete jungles, the conflicts of the animal kingdom rage...
Review Life of Pixel (PlayStation Mobile)
Not quite pixel perfect
Life of Pixel takes you on a nostalgia fuelled trip through the early era of video games. Playing as a fed-up green pixel – named, er, Pixel – you venture through worlds based upon the Atari 2600, Sinclair Spectrum, BBC Micro, Amstrad CPC464, Commodore 64, Game Boy, NES, and more. Like the classic platformers that it's...
Review Chimpact (PlayStation Mobile)
Simian-ply amazing
“Chimpanzees are members of the Hominidae family, along with gorillas, humans, and orangutans, and live in large multiple-male and multiple-female social groups called communities. Well known for making nests at the top of tall trees, chimps are constantly falling down 2-300 meters only to have a mysterious force fling them back...
Review Beats Trellis (PlayStation Mobile)
Pocket producer
Beats Trellis may sound like the name of a hip rhythm action game, but it’s actually a barebones digital audio workstation. Designed by Sony Computer Entertainment’s research and development department, the digital download allows you to compose simple audio motifs on the move. It’s designed in the style of Ableton and Reason,...
Review Gun Commando (PlayStation Mobile)
All outta gum?
It’s been a good 20 years since DOOM blasted its way onto the scene and laid the foundations for the rise of the first-person shooter. Some people may look back on its arrival with dismay given how stagnant the genre has become, but its legacy cannot be denied. Developer Green Hill Studios hopes to capitalise on that with its latest...

News PlayStation Mobile Officially Ends Distribution Tomorrow
A rather short chapter
Just a friendly reminder: no more PlayStation Mobile games will be released after tomorrow, and you won't be able to purchase any existing ones. Sony's failed mobile platform was announced to be coming to an end a while back, but given that we thought its last game, Oh, Deer!, was good enough to warrant some attention, we...

News PlayStation Mobile's Last Ever Game Looks Pretty Rad
Oh, deer
We gave up covering PlayStation Mobile a few years ago, so we're part of the problem. It became clear to us in those early days of the platform that, despite being a decent idea, it wasn't going to get much traction – and it made more sense for us to cover the native PlayStation Vita games primarily; y'know, the ones that people were...
Feature What Went Wrong with PlayStation Mobile?
Totally immobile
Republished on Wednesday, 11th March 2015: Following the news that Sony's shutting down PlayStation Mobile fully, we've decided to bring this article back out of the archives. The original text follows. Originally published on Wednesday, 6th August 2014: Sony's smartphone strategy seemed so, well, smart a few years ago. While the...
News Sony Hangs Up on Failed PlayStation Mobile Push
Put out to pasture
It started out with a bevy of big indie names like FuturLab, Laughing Jackal, and Vlambeer behind it, but PlayStation Mobile has run out of credit. Sony announced overnight that it won't be publishing any more content following 15th July, and from 10th September, you won't even be able to re-download any of the titles that you...
News Grand Theft Auto V's Online Heists May Steal a Chunk of Your PS4's Hard Drive Space
Trophies also out for anticipated update
Rockstar's being predictably cagey with regards to Grand Theft Auto V's forthcoming online Heists, so we're working with a bit of speculation this evening. Nevertheless, reports are rampant that the free update – due out on 10th March on the PlayStation 4 – will weigh in at around 4.8GB on the Xbox One,...
Store Update 3rd December 2014 (Europe)
Once upon a time
Telltale Games is taking over the European PlayStation Store this week. The developer has deployed its two latest episodic escapades in the Old World, with Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones both brawling for your hard earned cash. Also up for grabs is The Crew, as well as a fresh batch of PlayStation Plus freebies
Store Update 19th November 2014 (Europe)
Super love
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s the European PlayStation Store update, which is absolutely bursting with big games. Among the highlights this week are Grand Theft Auto V, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and, er, Rugby 15. Oh alright, maybe not the last one, then – but you get the overarching idea. PlayStation 4: Dragon Age:...
Store Update 5th November 2014 (Europe)
All outta gum
There are a few unexpected surprises included as part of this week’s European PlayStation Store update. While the inescapable Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the obvious headline addition, there’ll be plenty more guns for you to toy with in Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition on the PS3 and Vita. Also worth mentioning is the...
Store Update 24th September 2014 (Europe)
Ballin'
No prizes for guessing the biggest new release on the European PlayStation Store this week – it’s FIFA 15. EA Sports’ soccer sim will deploy at various points over the coming days depending on where you live, so check your local release schedule for more information. It’s joined this week by a handful of hot arrivals, including the...
Store Update 6th August 2014 (Europe)
Don't go breaking my chart
It’s the sizeable roster of free PlayStation Plus titles that are likely to keep you occupied this week, with the European PlayStation Store update playing host to new Instant Game Collection arrivals Metrico and Road Not Taken. Elsewhere, highlights include The Swapper and Table Top Racing, as well as the standalone...
News Sony Pulls the Plug on Android Support for PlayStation Mobile
That honestly wasn't much fun while it lasted
PlayStation Mobile has been dead for a good while now, but Sony’s more or less pulled the cord today. Originally intended to offer a curated content hub on PlayStation-certified phones and tablets, the platform holder quietly announced this morning that there’s a “possibility that content may not...
Store Update 30th July 2014 (Europe)
Big break
Make no mistake: The Last of Us Remastered is the big new addition to the European PlayStation Store this week. Alas, we’re running out of Joel and Ellie flavoured thumbnail images at this point, so we figured that we better rack up a Pure Pool picture instead. Chalk it up to variety. Sorry. PlayStation 4: Pure Pool Price: £
Store Update 16th July 2014 (Europe)
Something good
Much like its North American counterpart, this week’s European PlayStation Store update has a nice summer feel; in other words, there’s so little on offer that you may actually be forced to head outside and enjoy the warm weather. If that’s a frightening prospect for you, there are a few worthwhile additions this week, including...
Store Update 9th July 2014 (Europe)
Bite me
There are a couple of unexpected additions to the European PlayStation Store this week, with both 1920s trumpet-a-thon Jazz: Trump’s Journey and ghoulish bicycle simulation Skeleton Rider pedalling onto the PlayStation Vita. Other anticipated additions include season finale
Store Update 2nd July 2014 (Europe)
One spicy meatball
Games bring all of the boys and girls to the PlayStation Store, and there’s plenty to look forward to as part of this week’s European refresh. We suspect that the tasty treat at the top of your wishlist will be the hard-to-type PlayStation 4 re-release Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition, but the Vita version of the...
Store Update 4th June 2014 (Europe)
Producing perfection
Being a detective isn’t easy at the best of times, but we suspect that it’s a teensy bit more difficult when you’re dead. That’s the predicament that Ronan O’Connor faces in Murdered: Soul Suspect, the supernatural thriller from Square Enix. While ghosts are at the forefront of this week’s European PlayStation Store...
Store Update 21st May 2014 (Europe)
The Wolfenstein of Wall Street
As with North America, it’s a big week for the European PlayStation Store, with Wolfenstein: The New Order, Transistor, and Drakengard 3 all available now. Other highlights include Mugen Souls Z,
Store Update 14th May 2014 (Europe)
Big hit
It’s a slightly meatier European PlayStation Store update than North America this week – even if that is primarily because we’re playing catch up in these parts. After an unexpected delay, MLB 14 The Show is now actually available on the PlayStation 4, while Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars has finally made the long journey...
Store Update 7th May 2014 (Europe)
Flamin' heck
Coming up with interesting introductions to these PlayStation Store updates becomes a challenge after a while, so we’re just going to dive straight into this European refresh and hope that no one notices the distinct lack of effort. At least the platform holder’s put a little more thought into its digital plaza’s latest publish,...
