Having appeared as Hideyoshi Oshima in a Cyberpunk 2077 quest (if you searched hard enough), Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima will return to the Cyberpunk 2077 universe for a cameo appearance in the anime TV show Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Season two debuts on Netflix tomorrow, 20th October 2026, and the series' official social media channels have revealed a Kojima cameo will be included in the new set of episodes. He again plays Oshima, the director of Braindance, which is the technology Cyberpunk 2077 lightly fiddles with as you dive into people's memories.

Kojima's first appearance in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe was part of a main quest called The Heist. You enter a hotel with Jackie, and if you search the bar area, you can find Kojima sitting at a table. Here he is, courtesy of the YouTube channel MKIceAndFire:

"Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a triumph — and a testament to what can be done with video game adaptations when the people involved are so closely tied to the source material," is what we had to say when we reviewed the first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

"Studio Trigger's typically excellent animation style brings Night City and its insane inhabitants to life like never before, and brutal, gripping story beats punctuate the show's eye-popping pace." The hope will be that season two is just as good, if not better.
