The Witcher 3 Remastered PS5 Pro

When The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered was announced, CD Projekt Red confirmed that it would include support for PS5 Pro — but the developer didn't share any immediate details.

Fortunately, fans have now sifted through the company's massive Gamescom livestreams, picking out the specifics for all to see.

In one particular segment, veteran graphics engineer and programmer Tim Green explains how the remaster takes advantage of the PS5 Pro's additional power.

In a nutshell, the game's frame rates will see a significant boost.

Just like with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition — the native PS5 version that launched back in 2022 — Remastered features two graphics options: Ray Tracing and Performance.

Previously, choosing the Ray Tracing mode capped your frame rate to 30 frames-per-second, but with Remastered on PS5 Pro, it'll jump all the way to 60. You're basically getting the best of both worlds.

As for Performance mode — previously 60fps — the frame rate will be uncapped. Green says that it should settle somewhere around 90fps, assuming that your display supports VRR and high refresh rates.

So, on Sony's increasingly expensive system, you can pick between a smooth 60fps with visual bells and whistles, or a super smooth 90fps. Honestly, it sounds like you can't lose.

Green goes on to confirm that Remastered makes use of the Pro's PSSR upscaler, allowing the tech team to push performance without sacrificing visual clarity.

"A lot of it kind of took care of itself," he admits, with a smile.
