Publisher Wizards of the Coast and developer Invoke Studios have debuted about eight minutes of gameplay from Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, the upcoming action RPG set within the ever-popular fantasy world.
As the name suggests, you play as a warlock named Kaatri, who's on a quest to find someone with the aid of powerful witch Tasha.
The game is a single player action adventure, and as you can see from the gameplay, it looks like a fairly typical action-focused RPG.

The big difference here is the way you can combine magical abilities with melee; it looks like the combat gives you a lot of tools and leaves you to wield them how you see fit.
At one point, Kaatri holds one enemy in mid air, finishes off another, then magically picks up a spare sword and hurls it at the floating foe. A big brute baddie is defeated by summoning tendrils from the ground to hold it down while you hack away at it.
It looks like it could be a lot of fun — I'm sure we'll see plenty more of it, as it's slated for release sometime in 2027.

It looks like it'll be fun.
What I really liked was the facial capture.
For an alpha state, it looked promising.
It looked better than I expected. Maybe it will fill the Demon Stone shaped hole I've had on my shelf since the PS2 days.
Surprisingly involved. Looks interesting.
Nice to see Tasha as presumably the patron - could be fun. DnD has always has this MCU-like ability to create a great shared (forgotten) realm so I expect more famous cameos. Could be good if they really tighten up the gameplay, this looks a bit clunky for me atm.
Considering how Wizards of the Coast was upset that Larian Studios wasn’t putting micro transactions into Baldur's Gate 3 left and right. I would tread carefully with how this warlock game turns out in terms of micro transactions 🤑👀
This is probably the main game for me it looks great
But will it go on disk if so day one
As someone that absolutely loves Baldur's Gate 3, has put a couple of thousand hours into it, and believes it to be the best game ever made, I am excited for Warlock because I am hoping that Wizards of the Coast have learnt a lot from Larian's masterpiece.
It will be interesting to see how they deviate from BG3 in their approach, and I do not expect it to reach the same high level as BG3, but I do love the genre, so my hopes are pretty high because Wizards of the Coast do have a fantastic template to work from...
Interested, but need to see more.
If the magic system works well to really offer a lot of freedom in how you approach situations, rather than just the illusion of freedom, it could be pretty special. I like the idea of playing as a bit of a spell-sword.
Removed - unconstructive
Microtransactions = Hard Pass.
I never will understand games wanting to include microtransactions whatsoever. If the game is good then those would be unnecessary. Any game that has those microtransactions will always be a hard pass for me.
Definitely has promise. I'll be keeping an eye on this.
This definitely has my attention!
DnD style genre games are a comfort food
That looks incredible, I'm down.
That said, if it's a single player game with microtransactions, then they can go funk themselves.
This game is right up my alley. I never heard of it and the reveal makes it look like a ton of fun. Looks great too.
Excitement commence.

I was unaware of that, but I didn't plays Baldur's Gate 3 past the demo.
If it's just superficial micro-transactions like skins and such I'll be ok with it as it's unnecessary and not something I'd feel the need to buy.
Gameplay improving micro-transactions are an entirely other matter. Those just lead me to believe a game is designed around making those purchases.
