Armatus now has a confirmed launch date, having previously promised a vague 'winter' window.
The cool-looking action shooter will release for PS5 on the 7th January, adding to what's quickly becoming a very hectic first few months of the year for Sony's system.
Armatus is a single player effort from Counterplay Games, which you may remember as the team behind PS5 launch title Godfall.
There's definitely some Godfall DNA on display here, but there's obviously a much bigger emphasis on ranged weaponry.

For what it's worth, I thought Godfall had a pretty good feel in terms of combat mechanics and moment-to-moment gameplay — so I'd be surprised if Armatus doesn't hit similar action-heavy heights. Definitely one to watch for fans of third-person carnage.

Nice, been keeping tabs on this for a while!
I think this looks cool in a "shut my brain off and blast stuff" sort of way. Which is really all you need some times.
I enjoyed Godfall at the time of playing. It was new and very shiny. Nothing special but played good and didn't outstay its welcome. Would deffo give this a punt on sale or plus
Godfall is a pretty cool game. The combat was deep and very good. The only thing that let it down for me was a total lack of end game content. Criminally under rated game.
Needed a bit to recall what godfall was.
Geez, this new one looks like a good 1% less generic, that's what I call incremental progress. Call me when the release their 100th game.
From the developer of Godfall means I'm not considering before I read a review.
@XenonKnight if you read push squares review of godfall and based your opinion on its score and everything the reviewer said about it then more fool you. Listen to what the actual people who put the time in with the game to learn the nuances of the combat and how the game works especially on how to build the different classes efficiently have to say. Godfall wasn't for everybody but it is an excellent looter/fighting game. Like I said earlier the lack of end game content was what let it down ultimately and the online co-op came too late but to give this game a insultingly low 4/10 just showed me that to trust a push Square review at face value is something I'll personally not do again.
FYI Godfall Challenger Edition was a PS+ essence game one month.
@XenonKnight not sure if you were replying to me. The challenger edition was a bare bones (very bare bones) online co-op mode. The main guts of the game just wasn't there. I installed it to play with some friends who were struggling a bit and I was a bit surprised at how much was actually missing. If you've only played that then I can understand your hesitation because it wasn't a great impression to give to new players. Bungie just made a similar mistake when it launched its free week trial and PvE mode and locked new players into cryo archive which is the toughest and most complex map design. An absolutely bonkers decision when trying to bring in new players.
