Konami’s superb Super Bomberman Collection is already one of the best retro compilations you can buy on the PS5, but it’s about to get even better on 20th August.
A free update on the aforementioned date will add an eighth game to the bundle: Panic Bomber W.
This 1995 title was only available in Japan until 2017, when it released on the Wii U Virtual Console in the US and Europe for the first time. Given how deeply unpopular Nintendo’s system was, I imagine many of you will be experiencing this for the first time on the PS5.

Developed by Hudson Soft, this puzzle game is similar to Puyo Puyo or Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo.
Here’s how Konami itself describes it:
“Attack your opponents with spectacular chain reactions and Big Bombs, which appear when your meter is filled!”
As a reminder, if you already own the Super Bomberman Collection then you’ll be getting this update for free, which is really just a fantastic and generous value add.
I really recommend this compilation because it includes a ton of great games, including 1997’s Super Bomberman 5, which was previously only available in Japan as well.
