You’ll get your fix of Castlevania ahead of the holidays, as Konami has attached a 15th October release date to Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse.
The game, first announced during Sony’s State of Play in February, marks the first new game in Konami’s storied franchise since 2014. And it looks like it’s been well worth the wait.
In addition to some stunning key art by illustrator Katsuya Terada, the trailer includes a bunch of 2D action gameplay, with Dead Cells studio Evil Empire at the helm here.
I know Metroidvanias are kinda dime a dozen these days, but this is one of the originators of the genre – it’s right there in the name. It’ll be a dark day in hell before I skip this one.

Preorder up now, only 30 bucks.
Really wish there was an expo that packaged all these press conferences and announcements together.
@Hundred_Hand_Slap could probably come up with a short, catchy name for it too.
Day one for me.
nooo, female lead character, how dare they?
Oooooooh yeah, finally, the one and only, day one purchase. Was the last true 2d Castlevania 20ish years ago? Dang, more than ready for this!
Looking good. But i thought the protag was Sonia Belmont. Oh well, i guess Sonia's staying not-canon.
About damn bloody time Konami.
It looks cool, however, I really want something more the style of Order of Ecclesia visually.
@urbical Not bothered by a game having a female protagonist at all but it is an interesting trend to see how many games revealed this week have a female lead. I wonder do publishers think that if the game is good, male players will play anyway while also have a female lead might encourage more female players to buy their game? Just a thought
