Could we ever see a sequel to L.A. Noire?
The detective adventure game from Rockstar and the now-defunct Team Bondi remains a beloved and popular title, and though it's been nearly 15 years, there are still tiny signs of life that it could come back.
Take-Two head honcho Strauss Zelnick, speaking at iicon in Las Vegas, was asked whether more is being done with L.A. Noire.
"Yes," he said, adding "You never know." That's according to Game File (paywalled).
He continued his answer, speaking about the publisher's plans for all its properties. "The answer broadly is we're looking at doing something in the future with all of our intellectual property, but nothing to announce," he said.
So, while this isn't some big tease that an L.A. Noire 2 is on the cards, it does sound like considerations are being made. If any news were to come out about the series, it would come from Rockstar rather than Take-Two, Zelnick said.
The original game launched in 2011 and sold millions of copies, but despite its success, has yet to spawn a meaningful follow-up.
There was the VR Case Files spin-off for PSVR in 2019, but there's no sign of a proper sequel.
Aaron Staton, who plays lead character Cole Phelps in the original, said in 2021 that he "never heard a word" about another L.A. Noire game.
Do Zelnick's comments give you any hope for L.A. Noire 2, or is there doubt in your mind? Tell us in the comments section below.

Push square to doubt.
I mean with today's motion capture tech a sequel would be amazing. We've come along way since the original L.A noire.
I could also wake up tomorrow and feel like I need to be a woman!!
Most likely I won't but "you never know"
Doesn't really hold any weight when said like that!
I’d love this, but if even Red Dead Redemption 2, which for as successful as it was, to this day still does not have a PS5/XSX version, gets shafted because of GTA, this Bully, Manhunt etc have no chance.
Good lord, I don't see this happening, but I would be absolutely over the moon for a sequel. It's too bad the director had to be as toxic as he was. That team made a really special game. There aren't too many games that come out of Australia, either.
I'd absolutely love a sequel. A New york noire perhaps?

Cole Phelps: You never had any intention of making a sequel, did you 2K, you ******* ****** *******!

I want a max Payne 3 remastered and a max Payne 4.such a fantastic franchises.word up son
I would absolutely love a sequel. But it would probably not happen. I guess that McNamara’s new studio has now been rebranded as Rockstar Australia but they’ll probably remain a support studio.
An excellent crime game , but the empty world of that size should be incriminating.
I really enjoy open world games set in that time period. They are pretty rare though unfortunately.
@get2sammyb This is literally the first thing that came to mind when I saw the headline 🤣
That would be really nice, game with a lot of under utilized. It’s one of the rare R* games (besides red dead) that I couldn’t fully get behind. But the era it covers is under explored (but explored badly by mafia lol), so this has potential.
I just replayed this recently and it's quite good. The updates made for the PS4 version make it the game it was always meant to be. As it is, it's an interesting side-note in the story of performance capture. But we've gone in a different direction now (see those OD promos from Kojima). I doubt we'll see anything like this again.
